great course
Difficult course from the tips, but very fair. Excellent layout.
great course, greens and fairway were very nice.
The course was open and fairly longe from the green tee. Will play again on next trip.
Beautiful, scenic and challenging course. Well done!
The Highland track is uniquely scenic and beautiful but challenging at the same time. The greens are well maintained and played true. The fairways are open and spacious and baits the use of the driver. Long ball hitters will love this track. However, its a shot makers course, requiring a competent degree of accuracy due to the strategically placed bunkers and water hazards infusing a lot of risk/reward holes into play. The graceful elevation changes especially from holes 6-18 almost gives one the impression of a being on scenic tour while playing golf. A couple of the elevated tees provide views that remind you that you are in the Smokies. Also, a plus in regards to a track partially laid out within a community, the tees, greens and layout of fairway hitting areas are strategically so well placed practically eliminating the possibility of errant shots causing damage. So, relax and swing away. The homes or structures actually added scenic backdrops to the beauty of the course. This course captures the essence of the Smokies while playing a challenging game of golf. Extremely gratifying day of golf to be had if you play here.
I would go back and play it again - its sister course (Highlands) is a better choice
play it if you get a chance and its sister course the Highlands
Wonderful time and great golf!!
The course was in absolutely fantastic shape. They could use a ranger to suggest to slower groups that they should allow faster groups behind them (that are waiting on every shot) to play through. Other than that, it was a great day and course conditions were fabulous!
Excellent course; even better staff!
We played the River course. Very challenging. Picturesque. Well maintained. Staff was off-the-chart helpful and friendly. Highly recommend!
this course is excellent and plan to play again soon.
I enjoyed playing this course very much. I would recommend this course to anyone and look forward to playing it soon.
One of the best in East TN
I have played this course a few times and it is always one of the best around. I make the 45-60 min drive whenever I get the chance to play it. Greens are always fast and fairways are always nice. There is typically a really well priced tee time for this course on GolfNow. You may to browse through the times to find it. Recommended!!
Good Course - Great Staff
Challenging course with multiple Tees to fit your skill level. Greens were in great shape. Rained prior to playing so we were cart path only, good amount of changes in elevation.
very nice course
Good course. . Has some nice long fairways . . Greens were in good shape also
Nice layout
We played the river, but would gladly come back and play the highlands. While the holes for both courses are intermingled throughout the expansive layout, it does not feel like it plays tight at all. They've used a lot of land and have a very nice layout.
Great Time
Just played the river course for the first time. We had a great time. Finally some greens that have enough that you can actually put the ball and get it to the hole verses the super slow greens on most of the public courses. The faiways were beautiful with enough grass that my ball was actually setting up. I shot one of my best rounds the first time on this course and the condition of the course was a big part of that. Everyone was very friendly. We will definately be going back
Course in good shape despite abundant recent rains (7+inches). Greens recovering nicely from aeration.
Course well maintained. Pace of play an issue. Could use a course marshal!
good as it gets
best in area-better than I thought-will play again & again if Lord's will
Awesome golf course!
This course is great! Absolutely beautiful and challenging.
Great golf experience.
The course was everything I hoped it would be. We had great views of the Smokey Mountains. The course itself had interesting holes that ran along the river. Overall it was an enjoyable day.
1st time to play had some hazards that was difficult to see but will come back
Over all nice course enjoyed it will play it again when back in the area
Great Views
Good course, greens in good shape, bring a cooler, saw beverage cart 1 time and no half way house
Course is ok but pace of play was too slow.
Pace of play was too slow. First 8 holes was ok but after that, play came to a complete slow down. At one point 5 groups were trying to play 2 holes. Long waits were experienced on ever tee. We never saw a course Marshall and called pro shop and were told they would send out a Marshall but he never came by us. Also, course doesn't allow personal food or drink but didn't see beverage cart until hole 15 and that was after we called Pro Shop.
Excellent shape, but.....
The River Course carries a few holes from the old layout of Eagle's Landing, but most of the design is new. It's also perplexing in terms of routing. A newcomer to this course can easily skip over a few holes by accident because of the confusing layout, so pay attention. Also, the lack of a course marshal to help speed up play is a minus. I was playing as a single and got held up by a twosome of hackers who lacked both the ability to play the game and course etiquette, as they either refused to let me play through or just plain ignored me.
Having said that, the course is well maintained, with lush fairways and near-perfect greens that roll fast and true.
