About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in April 2018.
Located just southeast of downtown Houston, Glenbrook Golf Course tumbles across dramatically rolling terrain. The course traverses a bayou, which adds scenery but makes it a tough layout to walk since you often have to cross long bridges. There are many risk-reward opportunities where the more accurate you are, the greater the reward. Stands of mature trees line the fairways at Glenbrook and there are also strategically placed bunkers along the greens. Water hazards come into play on several holes. One of the most memorable water holes is the par-5 ninth, which demands a tough 180-yard carry over a wide creek that sits just in front of the green. Even with a good tee shot down the long fairway, you'll still have to lay up to make it onto the green.

Ok course if you don't pay full price
Fun challenging holes. Get ready to hit over water. Course is a little run down.
challenge your self
You want to find out how good of a golf player you are? With out breaking the bank. Yes Sir Glen Brook is for you. First you will have to tee off over a bayou that at first sight will seem super far! You will have to do that around four time's during the course. On some other hole's if your ball rolls past the putting green. Into the deep forest it will go! And the putting greens break pretty good as well. Not to mention the pin placement either. Like i wrote if you would like to challenge your self with out breaking the bank Glen brook is the place to go!
Good little public course. Shorter course, so good for those shot makers rather than the long ball hitters.
Had a great time, greens were pretty good. There were some dry spots on the fairway and what not. But texas heat tends to do that to courses. Really good, cheap public course.
Fire the Staff
To start out the male staff member had an attitude. Three of us played at the appointed time, with only ten cars in the parking lot we could have started 15 minutes early, but this guy held us up until the exact starting time. What difference did it make!! We played at 11 a.m. and the greens were being mowed in front of us, therefore we had to wait until until the job was finished ( 4 holes !! ). Once we got started the round went well.
The greens have an ant insect problem.
A good deal for what I paid.
Definitely worth the $10 i paid online. Not many people on the course which made for good pace of play.
Sure the course needs a lot of work, with some confusing tee boxes and nearly impossible greens, but I would play there again definitely. Fairways were pretty long so don't expect too much roll.
Course has a beautiful layout over the bayou and has potentially to be really nice.. maybe it was previously??
Overall, a good deal and want to go back again.
fun to play
This place will test your driving skills hitting ovet the bayou several times ...the water hazards are tricky ...greens are fast...
ok, but pro a little standoffish.
nice lay out, 9th hole is hard. Hitting over the bayou is tuff.
This course has a great layout and design
1. There was no starter working
2. I had a tee time but had to wait an additional 40 to tee off
3. It started raining before we could play the first hole
It was storming. The practice green was flooded.
As golfers started to return to the clubhouse and asked for rain checks. The gentleman working the register told everyone to wait 30 minutes before he could give them a rain check.
In addition to making golfers wait, he displayed poor customer service.
As is the case with all municipal courses needs some upkeep. Greens need more water as do the fairways. The course is very challenging but fun.
I will play it again especially after a rainy week and great green and cart fees.
Skip it!
Unfortunate...This track has potential to be a nice round, but management has quite a few areas of improvements to attend to. Layout is the best feature as water comes into play on six holes and it has interesting topographical changes unusual in Houston, but general gardening is needed all around...greens are spotty, tee boxes sometimes non existent, lack of path markings make the path ridiculous to follow on the back nine, there is a water hazard on the back that looks like a cess pool complete with dozens of floating beer cans. The worst thing is that there are neighborhood kids on bikes that roam freely around the course while folks are playing hunting balls to sell sometimes resting in fairway landing areas and retrieving balls you have just hit into play. Be prepared for non action from management if you call to report this. I wish them well as they address these issues, but in the mean time, skip it.
Glenwood Needs Work
This course has a lot of problems. The greens are pretty smooth but the speed varies throughout the course. There were random patches of St. Augustine grass throughout the course. The layout was very confusing and required many u-turns. The thing that really surprised me was the lack of a driving range. On the bright side the staff was very nice!
Excellent course layout and great pace of play!
This course was a great value for the price that was paid on a Saturday afternoon. Highly recommended for anyone from a beginner to the most serious golfer.
Most course here in Houston are drying out with the lack of rain.
Most course here in Houston are drying out with the lack of rain. But not here, being a city course they have used the water gracefully and it shows. Soft fairway and greens.
Go enjoy...!
Fun playing by a bayou
My boyfriend and I played this course on a Saturday morning, the only complaint I would have is the pace of play on the first 6 holes, but where in Houston is a golf course not going to be busy on a Saturday morning. The course is in good condition and the slight elevation changes makes it fun and challenging. I would recommend this course and I feel like you get a good bang for your buck.
On hole no. 15 blue and black tees management needs to fix the sewer issue at that tee box.

the course is good an intersting due to the deep water canals
Everything went good the course is mainteined the personel was corteous over all was good exept that i was charged for taxes twice after booking my t time i got the total amount to pay after taxes at the course and when i got there i was harged for taxes again and from what i understand i was not the only person that was double charged for taxes please follow up on this matter. thanks.
This course is nice
There are enough easy holes to make a good score. There are also enough challenging holes to require strategy and good placement.
Not so good experince for me.
Was late for Tee time due to traffic and the staff was very upset about it. So if you book a tee time, make sure your on time. Even though only one group was there, mangement was upset and rude. I don't see myself playing this course again.
Worst pin placement
I got a really good deal on golf now for 18.99 so deal was great. Tee boxes looked ok, greens were ok but the pin placement was so bad. Every pin was on a slope or hill. If you missed the ball rolled 5-10 more feet. And I know that's why you should make it, but every hole?
