About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in April 2018.
Located just southeast of downtown Houston, Glenbrook Golf Course tumbles across dramatically rolling terrain. The course traverses a bayou, which adds scenery but makes it a tough layout to walk since you often have to cross long bridges. There are many risk-reward opportunities where the more accurate you are, the greater the reward. Stands of mature trees line the fairways at Glenbrook and there are also strategically placed bunkers along the greens. Water hazards come into play on several holes. One of the most memorable water holes is the par-5 ninth, which demands a tough 180-yard carry over a wide creek that sits just in front of the green. Even with a good tee shot down the long fairway, you'll still have to lay up to make it onto the green.

Pleasant Suprise
For the cost, I was pleasantly surprised at the layout and course conditions. Par 5's were long and several holes over the bayou! Pace of play not too bad for public course. Overall a very enjoyable afternoon.
I should note that there may not be any dress code at this course, or they just don't mind what you wear. There were several guests in gym shorts and tee-shirts. But, this may be a way of allowing some of the "lower income" neighborhoods in the area a chance to be part of the great game of golf.
Hidden Gem at a great price.
I had never played Glen Brook but was very impressed with the course the staff and the value. The course is moderate for my skill set but very enjoyable round with a close friend.
Fun course, killer slopes
Had fun playing the course. I have been there before and the course is in as good a shape as ever right now. We'll see how it survives the summer. The slope on the greens is amazing. I had several 10 footers that were nearly impossible to make due to the speed and slope of the greens. Definitely a challenge. My only bad comments would be: 1. how confusing the back 9 layout is....we had a gentleman join us on 17 green asking where 18 tee was located; 2. The score card yardage is WAYYYY over the actual on almost every hole. Overall great value for the money. I will play it again.
TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, CONFUSING(hard to find tee boxes), AND JUST PLAIN BAD
TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, CONFUSING(hard to find tee boxes), AND JUST PLAIN BAD. WON'T BE GOING BACK EVEN FOR $10
Fairways and greens are in best shape I've seen!
Been playing this course for years. Haven't been on it in 2 years.
The tee that had been moved toward the freeway is now back to it's original spot. The putting greens and fairways are in the best shape I've seen. This course always drains fast and has been known to be a typical municipal hardpan course, but today it was really nice. I think there could be some type of new management. They have been sending emails about a new cart/beverage person. The course is very visually challenging b/c you have to cross the bayou several times. The white tees are very playable to get to the putting greens in two shots.
Great fun
Fun course. A couple of challenging holes and a couple of easy holes where you can do some firsts. A lot of fun.
Have your game right!
If you don't have your game right, you could be in for a long day! Lots of course management, blind shots, and a little luck won't hurt....
This course has great features
This course require that you PLAY GOLF. None of that bombs-away mentality. You have to make shots with your irons and wedges. Also every green gave you a different read. I was pleased with course. Better than most municipal course.
Not very good
Golf now needs to reconsider this course as one of its courses. When I got to the course to pay the attendant added $2 .50 charge. And showed it as golf ball purchase. When I asked her about it she said it was tax. I informed her the tax had already been included in the price online she said the course had to add its own tax. Then she tried to offer me two used balls they have for sale on the counter. I will not go back. And I'm a little bit apprehensive as to what kind of checks golfnow.com uses to allow courses on their site
The course is looking great this year! Mid-week prices are a bargain.

Save your cash
If you're dying to get out and play and can grab a tee time for less than 13 bucks then go for it. Just don't mind the empty water jugs, clover patches on the fairway, groundscrew "hanging out" around the course, and trash cans that are overflowing with what smells like death. The course has potential but that's about all it has.
Course needs repair
Carts were dirty inside and out not well maintained.
The coures is in need of basic mowing and maintenance.
For the price provided by Golfnow.com not to bad.
Good layout for the price.
I have not played Glenbrook in a few years as they were not offering substantial discounts through the GolfNow website until recently. The course is a great layout crossing a 100 yd creek 4 times during the round and a lot of blind greens so you have to hit to landing spots on your tee shots. Long par 5's off set several short par 4's. The greens were recently seeded and not in great shape but a good value for the Hot Deals price.
Six Trips Accross the Bayou
If you cannot hit a ball 200 yards you will never get over the Bayou on the six holes requiring this distance. This alone makes the design unfortunate but when you add in three additional holes that make no sense and cart paths that require you to approach groups on the tee or cross in front of the tees this place can be very dangerous. This is my second time playing the course and both times the golf cart failed. They need some serious maintenance or replacement.
Return to Glenbrook Golf Course 15 years later
Played here back in the mid 90's when it was a city owned course...not much has changed. It is a fun course that is not too long, slight elevation changes that are unique to the city. Fairways need help, but with no rain what can you do, especially #14, but greens are OK...bayou crossings are tricky, don't pass on this course, for .75 a hole...it was a blast!
poor condition greens rude service
Was charged more then what I reserved on golfnow. Guy didnt care that I had the email charged regular fee cart died after first hole overall bad experience will not golf there again
Green have just been over seeded
Green need time to recover from over seeding. (April 26, 2013) Course in confusing, not marked very well. A couple of holes were were not easy to figure out where the green was.
Very nice course.
It was not what we expected when we were driving thru the neighborhood to get to the course. But it turned out to be a very nice course. It was challenging to hit across the bayou several times. Number 9 was a fun but brutal par five! Very scenic holes. Overall I would greatly recommend that you play this course.
