The management of this course has really made great strides in improving the conditions of this course. We really appreciate the effort the grounds crew has made. The clubhouse staff are very friendly as well. Keep up the great work.

It pains me to watch Southwyck turn into such a terrible course, especially since I live along the course. I hadn't played it in quite a few months until this past Saturday evening. Thankfully I only paid the twilight rate of $25. This course has never kept up the rough, it's always been in terrible shape and just totally neglected. But you can get past that if the fairways and greens are good. Anyone who's played it knows the fairways are incredible bumpy, much more so on the front 9. You really have to do the slalom in your cart to find anything close to smooth ground that won't have your clubs bouncing everywhere. The fairway conditions weren't totally terrible, but at this point in the spring they should be better. The worst part of the course at this point is the greens. The only green that I rated "pretty good" was 16. Every other green either had tons of those little tiny patches of some other type of grass growing through, which make a straight put impossible, or there were huge patches of solid dirt, no grass. There's just no excuse for this by late April. The greens should be in the best condition of the year b/c the really hot sun hasn't had a chance to dry them out. In past years, before the current mgmt, the greens were really great in the spring and early summer. Conditions aside, many part of the course have become a total eyesore. A lot of of the water had been completely neglected. The wrap around pond that starts on the par 3 11th and runs around past the 12th tee box looks like a cesspool. The part by 12 is overrun by algae and has parts of a huge tree that rotted laying across it. It basically looks like you'd expect it to look if the golf course closed and a year went by. It's really embarrassing that mgmt doesn't see things like this as needing attention. Water is one of the main things that can make a course look beautiful and upscale. This is complete neglect. I'm not sure if course mgmt is to blame, or if the ultimate owner is not giving the course enough capital to maintain it properly. The course seems to get a lot of play, so can't imagine it wouldn't get even more if it were maintained. Plus, they could charge more. Like I said, it really saddens me to see the course go to complete s#!&, but that's the best way I can describe it. Anyone who pays $50+ on the weekend needs their head examined. Nearby Clear Creek and Pearland Golf Club are maintained MUCH better and are at basically the same price point. Clear Creek puts Southwyck to shame. Hopefully more golfers will leave honest reviews like this and get mgmt/ownership to do something. If I didn't live on the course I would never consider playing it again under these conditions.

Have played this course for years and normally it’s in decent shape. But, now most of the greens are almost unputtable with the poanna in them, the majority of tee boxes are thin and hard, there’s very little grass on the practice range, you have to drive super slow on the fairways because they’re so bumpy, the Marshall does nothing about speed of play, it took 5 hrs 15 min for a Thursday morning round waiting on every shot. It was exhausting! Hate to see this course being in such bad shape when the layout is one of my favorites. Just hoping they’ll get it together pretty quickly.

Greens are recovering as temperatures warm. I called ahead with a couple of holes ahead of making the turn. The cheeseburger was ready and the beer cold which I grabbed for the back nine. They heller me drop 5 strokes from the front nine. Good marshaling getting foursomes off in time.

Fairways very rough and dried out. Greens just hanging in there. Love the course layout, but you’ve got to get some more water on the fairways so you can cut them smooth!

Southwyck has been my go to course for many years and I’ve never seen it in this condition. It feels like it’s been neglected for quite some time. The greens are terrible with uneven growth and dead spots all over. The fairways are much of the same with lots of dead spots. It’s sad because I really like this course.

I've always liked the course layout and the interesting variety of holes offered. Unfortunately, the course conditions are spotty at best. Scattered bare patches around the fairways, somewhat bumpy greens, and tee boxes that are so hard you can barely push a tee into the ground, really diminishes the experience. It's also disappointing that they removed all of the sand bunkers from the course. This was a MUCH nicer course 25+ years ago. But, it is inexpensive to play, so there's that. I suppose you get what you pay for.

Can’t complain too much for the price. The staff is always excellent and friendly. The greens are nowhere near as good as Pearland golf club.
