Southwyck Golf Club

The staff is friendly and carts are clean. I know it has been rainy, but other course have managed weed control and kept the grass acceptable. Second cuts off fairways were very thick and tall - crab grass is all over the course and even several greens are seeing weed growth. With the Golf Now discount - it is better than simply whacking balls at a driving range - but if you want a serious golf outing, best to keep looking until they get this course back under control.

The pace of play would have been better, and we mentioned to a course marshal, if large slow groups would let others play through. We were a group of two behind a foursome. Every hole we watched the same player in that group hack at his golf ball, then walk around looking for it - only to hack again. The rest of his group would be putting out while he was still hacking away. We tried to get their attention and asked the staff - nothing. We followed said group for 18 slow moving holes.

One of the better courses for the money. There were some areas in the fairway that looked like a tractor drove through and the rough hadnt been mowed, so you would be 3 inches off the fairway but the grass was to your knees. Overall its an easy course, wide open fairways and a few par 3s with huge slopes add some difficulties. Water isnt a real issue on most of the course. for under $40, you cant beat it. I was sad the cart girl only came by once in a 4 hour round tho.

Fairways covered in crabgrass, second cut is not managed at all. Not managed well. If it wasn’t for golfnow hot deal, i would not play here again at full price ever.

What a wonderful inexpensive course to play at with friends. I’m looking forward to coming back soon!!!

The greens are in way better shape. You still need to make sure you hit the ball in fairways.

No water stations. Need water stations throughout course- maybe 2 on the front 9 and 2 on the back nine.

This is a really fun course to play, however be advised that they have zero water coolers on the course (so bring your own cooler), and there are no ball washers either. If you can deal with those conditions then you’ll enjoy this course.

I got a very cheap last minute price. Greens had weeds popping up. Had to take relief to find smooth putting path to the hole. Hard ground,, lots of tall grass in the rough off the fairways. Mud bogs in spots where sprinklers were leaking. However, it’s playable and ok if you get it cheap. Golf course aficionados don’t bother.

I used to go here about a year in a half ago with a buddy that lived close. After he moved i kept going closer to the house. With my son in town and not being able to get a early tee time close to the house I figured id give it a shot. The staff has always been great. The course on the other hand has taken a sharp decline. The greens and fairways were dry but green with minimal earth cracking. The rough and ornamental grasses were overgrown and have not been kept up. I was told that new management want to see so NO BEVERAGE CARTS and one 1 maintenance man to mow the whole corse. It's a shame to see it like that, really should be better!!

The course needed to be mowed...Looks about 4 days past due...Some of the tee boxes were in dirt and on very bad slopes...

I am sure this course use to be amazing. Greens are in terrible condition, fairways are not maintained , and very few amenities. A little investment in consistent grounds maintenance and a few extra concessions staff could go a long way. Recommend not allowing more than 4 golfers in a group. With no Marshall, playing behind a 5-some and their lack of courtesy made for a long round. Bottom-line…You can do better Southwyck.
