Good Course
A good course which can be challenging for a player like myself returning to golf.
Allestree
I’ve always liked playing this course , I tend to play well there . It’s a pity that Derbyshire County Council have decided to close it
Fossie golfo
Double booked when only booked for 2 players bit annoyed about that other than that a good day.
This course is great value for money
The course offers great value for money as both the fairways and greens were in good condition. You share a lot of the course with walkers / dog walkers who at times can be obvious to the fact they are walking on a golf course but as long as you are aware of that before playing, it doesn’t cause any issues
Great value for money course
Played at 10am as a four ball. The course is in great condition and a real challenge at times; you’d be hard pressed to play a better course for the money. Definitely recommend.
There are a couple of drawbacks but they’re only minor as they are to do with pace of play - firstly it’s a public course and so dog walkers are often in your line of sight (one individual actually walked the length of the fairway with the dog, crazy!) and secondly, two groups of gentlemen had taken their tee shots off the 12th whilst we were on the 11th so that they didn’t have to walk round again. I understand that it saves walking (and forgivable at their commendable age) but when we teed off, there were already 6 balls on the fairway!
A real enjoyable challenge
My first time on this course, lovely setting, very challenging for myself as a returner to golfer! Would recommend giving the course a try, just keep an eye out for the dog walkers!
The course wasn't to bad afew holes crossed over each other which you had to be careful with and the only other thing was watching out for the general public walking around the course when teeing off and when in play
Nice course
The course was in excellent condition and great value for money. It will be a great loss to the local courses if this club is lost
Play it while you can ..
Scored my best ever score, despite my handicap rising to 22.5, gross 84. Greens in tip top state, fairways well manicured and the views are awesome. All holes, except a couple in my opinion, are very picturesque. One of my favourite courses since my first visit about 35 years ago. As the title says, play it while you can as scheduled for closure at the end of the year as I understand. Believe the property has been purchased but no plans to maintain the course. Stunning plot of land, could be a 5 star venue with some investment.
Great facility
Fantastic amenity and can’t believe it maybe closing
So well maintained , stunning views . Makes for a great round of golf
Be a terrible loss to many people if it is returned to parkland
Loved it
First time playing here and loved it. Great value for money and a real test. Will try and be back before it’s apparent closure at the end of 2020.
Nice course to play
Played here a number of times over the years. Has some quite challenging holes with trees and bunkers in play on most holes. Some nice little par 3's that can be challenging with a bad tee shot. Will be playing here as long as i can.
Enjoyable coirse
Although this course is a municipal it was an enjoyable round. Much better than other municipal courses in the Derby area. A few tea areas were poor but for the price it was well worth it. Will definitely play again. Hopefully it will remain open after this season when Hotel company take over
The golf course is very nice and interesting, includes a good stiff walk up the hills, it seems to be in better condition than i remember on previous visits.
i would further add it is a real shame the local council is thinking about closing this excellent facility down this year, Many golfers started their golf experiences at allestree. I am amazed finance cannot be found to maintain the course given the minute amount required. this is miniscule compared to other council spendings which offer far less benefit to the residents of derbyshire.
They need to change their attitude.quick
There's some really interesting holes due to good use of the natural landscape.
