Good well maintained course
First time playing Arcot for our group and it was a bit of a revelation - course is obviously well maintained and despite being relatively flat includes some interesting holes - it's by no means straight forward to achieve a low score due to strategically placed bunkers, trees and blind tee shots / dog leg layout on some holes - greens had recently been hollow tined and sanded but were still very playable. The only issue of note during our visit was pace of play due to a very slow four ball backing the course up which added circa 40 minutes to our round resulting in some frustration for ourselves and others. Club house is well worth a visit and refreshments are reasonably priced in comparison to some other nearby venues.
Arcot hall
This course is in excellent condition, which by the way when you go on golf now to course conditions it tells you the course is under maintenance on matts are in play, this information will cost ascot money I did mention it to the golf pro and he told me that was 4 months ago
Great Value for money
£20 hot deal, best value for money around in the area. Course in very decent condition. Highly recommend at that price.
Last minute decision
Myself and a friend booked this last minute as it’s only 2 minutes from our works.
Can’t believe I’ve not played here before, drove past the course for years and never gave it a thought how wrong I was!
Can’t wait to go back and will definitely organise a society day here.
Hidden Gem!
Nice course
Played here last minute as knew it was easy walk after work good pace even behind 4 ball , course in good condition little bit of sand still on greens and greens need extra cut but all in all good round at nice course
Excellent course
Walked in with low expectations having only paid £17 for a tee time. Lovely facilities in the old Manor House and really well kept course. Only complaints were a slow pace of play due to a senior tournament ahead.
What do you expect?
What do you expect on New Year's Day?
Club house was shut and no staff visible. Only nine holes open and fairway greens in use. Course was waterlogged due to recent weather and carry bags only.
Still managed 18 holes with my son. 4 hours of exercise in great company. That's what it's all about. Managed to sort out a few issues with strike and we will work on these through the winter.
Great value for £13.99 each. Just what do people expect.
Waste of time.e and money
Played here a number of times for an average green fee of £16 through the summer.
This was shocking value for £20. No golf trollies allowed. I am 61 with an arthritic knee don't mind waling with a trolley but no way could I carry my tour bag all the way round 18 holes. Did nine holes shots fromm the fairway not allowed and 6 temp greens. I will be back in the summer when restrictions are lifted. Very poor value feel conned.
Greens were shocking
Ascot is a lovely course but greens had just been tinted and were unplayable. If i had known about the condition of the greens i would never have booked. Good round spoilt.
Hollow tined greens
The course was selected to play with a friend after playing before. Picked the course as in the website it was described as the full course open. At no stage in the booking, in the pro shop was it explained to us that the greens had been hollow tined. When I say hollow tined they were like a Dunkirk landing beach. It severely affected our enjoyment of the course as the greens were pretty much unputtable on.
I am aware that as part of course maintenance greens need hollow tined but at no point in the booking process via GolfNow or on the course website did it say the greens had been hollow tined. We were not aware of this till we got to the 1st green. We would not have booked the course to play if we had known this was the case.
Impressive Course
Lovely parkland course. Fairways & greens in good condition.
Friendly (Geordie) members. Beautiful club house.
Arcot Hall
Played here before, not recommended in the wet. The greens were not in good condition, maybe due to recent heavy rain. First hole shortened due to work being carried. out.
Good but wear bug repellent
I enjoyed the round was a nice course. The layout is a bit tight on the front 9 with lots of adjacent greens and fairways. Also there are almost no signs pointing you to the next tee box. Most are obvious some were not so causing me to wonder where the next tee was. Adjacent greens also pose the same problems. Worst part was the mosquitos that were out in force on a humid summer evening. I got bitten, a lot...so wear some repellent if playing in the summer.
I find these comments slightly confusing. You played in winter, fairway protection in place and 6 temp greens on. Surely this would of set alarm bells ringing that the course was wet and obviously no trolleys would be allowed. Maybe look at getting a winter carry bag instead of a tour bag and expect trolleys to be on.
