Good course

Round was a bit slow due to people not letting faster groups through but got there in the end. Nice course and friendly staff.

A good local council owned course

Having played here a few times when I was younger and a few times currently I still find it an enjoyable round of golf on a course that is well maintained.

Extremely slow play

Course is really good for the average golfer and it’s my second time playing there however there were two groups in front of us and the pace of play was absolutely shocking. It nearly took three hours to play 9 holes luckily they were leaving after 9. Not once did they offer to let us through, yes we’ve all been at a point when you can only hit it 10 yards but when it’s every shot on every hole be mindful of the people playing behind you. Surely the pro shop would have known who was in front and could have gave some notice. Like I say the course is brilliant and I will probably be back but I will be reporting if slow play like that happens again cause it was ridiculous.

Lovely afternoon’s golf in glorious sunshine. Course in great condition. Wonderfully friendly staff. I was playing on my own and very courteous footballs let me play through so was round in just over two and a half hours. A most enjoyable round on a great course.

Westerhope Golf Course: A Newcastle Gem

Westerhope Golf Course, located just outside Newcastle, offers a fantastic golfing experience for players of all levels. The course is well-maintained, featuring undulating fairways, strategic bunkers, and smooth greens. Its thoughtful layout makes great use of the natural landscape, creating a course that’s both challenging and enjoyable.

A standout feature of Westerhope is its welcoming atmosphere. They even allowed my wife to walk around with me during my round, which added to the overall enjoyment of the experience.

The practice facilities include a driving net and a dedicated chipping area, along with a putting green that mirrors the course’s conditions. After your round, the friendly clubhouse is perfect for relaxing, offering good food and a well-stocked bar.

With reasonable green fees and excellent value for money, Westerhope is a must-play for both locals and visitors alike.
