Enjoyable Round
Nice course , good test for a mid 20s handicapper , greens in excellent condition , good price later in the afternoon for a course that I had always had as a bit exclusive and expensive
No score cards to be found.
Clubhouse/pro shop closed. Went to the bar for a scorecard and the lady behind the bar was pretty clueless.
Up and down straight course drive straight and it’s simple. Wouldn’t fancy paying the membership for this course
Tremendous
The course was very challenging but what a layout in and around the racetrack of Newcastle. Lovely holes, perfect greens, fairways and the rough was in great condition; cut to perfection. The bunkers really test your escape shots also for being deep and narrow. WELL WORTH IT!
Spectacular setting
Finally had the good fortune to play this exclusive course with my son. Despite strong winds all afternoon we thoroughly enjoyed the challenge. The greens were all true and a consistent pace and very well kept fairways and bunkers. The tee boxes were really top shelf and provided all the required yardage with a nice touch off showing the stroke index on each of the markers with white yellow and red being the options.
Really friendly welcome and fabulous clubhouse overlooking 18th Green and first tee box.
Good value
Nice traditional club. Warm welcome and good value. Great value for money. Quirky layout, set inside the racecourse. Driving over the all weather track on several occasions. Really worth a visit. Greens let it down a little bit. Should be better by this time of year but unseasonably dry so forgiven.
The Park is looking good
First time I’ve played here for a number of years and wasn’t disappointed. Having played Bamburgh and Matfen this week, NGC was in way better condition than those courses. It’s always been renowned for great greens and they’re already good at an early stage of the season. I think they’ll be superb in the next few weeks.
We were slowed up by a 3 in front who kept losing balls non-stop and slowed the whole course up. It was also in the summer park layout due to horse racing which we weren’t advised about when booking.
Staff were excellent and very friendly, pint and a pasty were top notch.
Thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back.
Jewel in the North
Fantastic course
Very challenging
Very friendly staff
Great practise facilities
Great touch on first tee box with pencils, tees ,cards
Course condition
For early in the season, the greens were in excellent condition and the course in general was very good!
I enjoyed this. What a challenge.
I played here for the first time using golf now.
It is a very long and hard course but we had a lot of fun.
The two members which I spoke to were incredibly friendly which challenged my preconceptions of it being stuffy.
I will go back when my golf improves.
Fantastic Golf Club
Just played the Northumberland Golf Course fantastic condition for this time of the year
Staff are very friendly and welcoming
Great course at Newcastle Race Course
Played this course with a member at the end of August. Dry conditions but course in a good state - hard dry fairways so some links-like characteristics. Tee boxes and greens superb. Buggies available which is great if flying in with only clubs.
Course has a few challenging holes including a couple of shots over the race course…. Most of the course on one level ( two hilly holes) Some heathland and parkland holes. Nice club house and facilities.
Challenging heathland course near city centre
Built mostly within the bounds of Newcastle Race Course, "The Park" as it is known locally is a challenging heathland course with firm, fast and difficult greens, rolling rigg and furrow fairways and almost always windy conditions, almost playing like an inland links course. Course furniture is sparse by design so get a course map. There is a full practice range reserved for visitors and members. Pace of play is very fast as the course is not excessively booked. The clubhouse and staff are welcoming and does good quality and value food and there is a spike bar, a slightly more formal lounge and formal dining room to chose from. It has been an Open Qualifier venue in recent years and is a good test of golf, playing close or to your handicap is a great result if you dont know the course.
terrible green
nice first and last hole. rest not so good. signage not brilliant. tees had been sprayed green to try to cover up the awful condiition
Strange experience because I joined the club around that time partly on the basis that the greens were firm, fast and true. The green is a marker for wetting agent if Im not mistaken. Not paint LOL. Sorry you didnt like the layout, but it's an Open qualifying venue so the R&A seem to think its a good test of golf.
