Awesome

The exposure to the elements, the amount of blind tee shots, and the hilly nature of this course all contribute to an exciting challenge that evokes great thought and focus with ones shot selection.

The greens are in great condition, the fairways and rough are well maintained, the atmosphere in the clubhouse is warm and welcoming and the staff are friendly and helpful.

All this complemented by fantastic views, I hope to return to play here again someday.

Axe cliff

I've been playing a few of the local courses over the last few months. Axe cliff was in very good condition for the time of year,it was nice to walk off with dry shoes and a trolley not covered in mud. I will definitely be playing there more in the months to come

Axecliff stunning views

I have played this course as a visitor for many years. Generally I would recommend it to any golfer. The course is situated high above the coastal town of Seaton and affords stunning cliff top views of Lyme Bay.

The first nine is a challenge as most greens are out of site of the teeing area. After the first seven holes the land is flatter but you are in a more elevated position. Some long par fours on the back nine and holes 15 and 16 run alongside the cliff edge giving a dramatic run in.

Unfortunately on this day we were told by a member that the tractor was out of service and so the semi, first cut rough had not been attended to for several days. This proved to be a bit of a disappointment as only a slight wayward long tee shot meant that a ball was lost immediately. This really spoiled our game as we had to replace balls in approximately the position where we saw them land. Yes we saw them land but still couldn't find them. I will need to replenish before the next game.

This is a very friendly club where staff and members are very welcoming. We will certainly be back but not until the semi-rough is restored to a reasonable cut.

Give it a go but perhaps wait until the spring .

Hard going.

It's a very hilly course with far too many blind holes for my liking. A number of fairways cross which I did not like. Fairways were not obvious and could do with a trim. It was misty when we played, but on a clear day the views would be great. Overall everything was a bit tired and could do with a revamp.

Amazing views

Lovely course which tests your brain somewhat. Clifftop course with lovely views. We had a great day weatherwise but imagine it being challenging in windier conditions. Fairways and greens all well tended. Really nice course. Thank you.

A good afternoon

A good afternoon for golf. Course in the best condition we've seen it, probably in preparation for an open competition taking place at the course a few days later. Unbelievably, the course was largely deserted so we were unhindered all the way round. The weather couldn't have been better too.

Stunning Views, A Bit Wacky

Stunning views, interesting layout and holes. Most of the holes are blind - even 150 yard par 3 you couldn’t see the green (just the tip of the flag!) Greens were better than expected, on the slow side but consistent, rolled nicely and they had interesting slopes etc. The driveway up to the course/clubhouse is pretty grim, v steep and narrow so make sure your handbrake works!

No club hire

If like me and my son -you are on holiday and fancy a round -don’t rely on this place to hire you some clubs as advertised on their website

Booked the round but when I rang to check was told there’s only 1 set and it was out- but was welcome to see if there was a few random clubs knocking about round the back

For a start there was 2 of us and didn’t fancy paying £60-£100 for a round with a bunch of of oddments

Shame was really looking forward to it all week

Axe Cliff

The only reason I down mark the coarse is because the fairways grass is too long and the 2nd cut is like the rough!

Axecliff

Course in very poor condition lots of blind shots to marker posts. Seemed to be always looking for the ball due to long daisy ridden fairways and vey long rough just off the fairways. At £30 it should be a lot better. Shame because views are impressive and greens ok.

Good fun 18 holes.

Golf course is a good challenge of golf, with some very interesting holes. Fantastic views. Greens and fairways in good condition for the time of year/weather conditions.

Tee boxes not in the best of condition but didn’t spoil the round. Great value for money and staff very helpful.
