Not the best golf day I'm afraid
The 'GolfNow' tee time was immediately behind a seniors match that was playing that day. By the 4th hole my tee time and the 2 tee times behind me were all queued up waiting for the group in front....who were waiting for the group in front......who were waiting for the group in front and so it went on. Played 6 holes and called it a day. Disappointed that I didn't get value for money.
Good course, low par but worth it
Good Money for course, especially on hot deal, fun small course with lots of hills which makes you think about every shot. Went when it was the end of the heatwaves so course conditions are not normally like this,
Bare summer fairways.
Oh my! Fairways and short rough almost completely absent of life in this exceptionally dry summer, and that means there's little stopping the ball running off at speed even on the gentlest of crossfalls. Problem is, there are a lot of very steep crossfalls too. My playing partner aslo had a ball return 100yds to his feet on the steep 9th fairway. Granted it was poorly hit!
Beware also some steep lung busting climbs on the 8th, 9th and 11th. 8th's a shocker.
Greens on the other hand were very good indeed, true and not too fast. Very healthy and well tended.
In fairness, this is a beautiful wood-lined course with views to the sea which I've enjoyed playing on many occasions, but I did say to my pal that he should remind me of this day if we ever thought of playing again in the dry season. Such a pity.
Did enjoy a cold pint in the clubhouse, though. Nice place and nice welcome by all.
Challenging and beautiful
Though it's got quite a few par 3's it's far from easy. There's a few blind shots. Greens are really good. With the differing elevations you rarely get a flat lie which makes it a
tough challenge.
Aside that the views are amazing.
Tricky course if it's your first visit
Great value helpful staff hope to return as a knowledge of the course will hopefully add to the enjoyment of future visits.
Excellent golf course
It was the 1st time we played there and found it an interesting course to play, making you think how to play your shot.
Signage was good giving you directions around the course which was very helpful 👍
Marvellous
Booked a round here to see if I was comfortable whilst I recover from a neuropathic reaction in one of my feet. And by utilising a buggy (I couldn't have completed 2 holes walking otherwise) I was able to complete my first round since April! Everything was in splendid condition and I played the round in net par!
Enjoyable scenic golf
A hilly challenge with fantastic views. All people we me very friendly and welcoming. Nice pint in bar
Great Tricky Course
Would highly recommend, well maintained, beautiful views.
Pro shop and club house all very welcoming good food and good prices.
Beautiful Views Sadly Tainted by pace of play
Booked via golf now £25 each for me and a friend for 11:10 on a weekend, for a weekend before mid-day I thought this was a fantastic price. Turned up and was told we shouldn't have been able to book that slot as members and a society were booked to go out at those times and were told we would have to go off 20 minutes later. This I thought was only a minor issue and gave an opportunity to spend extra time using the practice facilities which were reasonable (although no range) before teeing off.
However the 4 balls which consisted of mostly older players which were sent off in front of us were quickly caught on the 4th hole after a 2 ball kindly let us through. They didn't let us through for the entire round, we watched them all hit about 12+ shots on an uphill par 4 into wind and hit almost every tee shot <150 yards, I also witnessed one of them 4 putt from under 2ft (Maybe this is harsh as John Rahm did it in the 23 masters). This was in addition to constantly leaving their cart behind them and having to walk back to it, leaving bags the wrong side of the green, standing on the green after finishing counting up scores. For a 5000 yard course their round took just under 5 hours and because of them ours was only slightly shorter.
Rant over, views were stunning, course was very tricky and lots of hidden bunkers and hazards, green condition was largely pretty good. My recommendation would be to employ a martial at peak times to keep on top of these issues, or at the very least have signs at different points saying what pace of play should be e.g for a 4 ball at the 10th hole you should be no more than 2 hours.
