Course in good Condition

The greens were well looked after and the fairways well defined.

The tee boxes were a bit worn.

This is a very hilly course and some holes are tight and crossing over each other.

Unfortunately, the clubhouse was disappointing. Staff were pleasant enough but the range of food on offer was disappointing.

This course has great views

This course is extremely challenging. It will test your fitness and your golfing ability! The views from the Golf Course are fantastic and I would highly recommend a game of golf at this venue

Views on the front nine are of the wonderful Devon countryside. The views from the back nine are Seascape views. over the sea and shoreline towards the town.

Very hilly

I took out a hand trolley as I did not have my electric one

I suggest a buggy or electric trolley

I found a lot of the greens and tees hard to find

Great views of Portland aBeer and Seaton while playing

First visit

Enjoyed my first visit here. Greens are well maintained and green for time of the year. Rest of the course is yellow from the hot weather over the last month. With the course being hilly there is alot of runout but not outrageous. Signage on the tee boxes are excellent, with lots of information on where to aim which is really helpful with there being so many blind tee shots. Also good signage for the next tee. I will definitely play here again but probably when things are a bit greener.

Dry and fast.

Played here many times and applaud the tidying up of large areas of over-long impenetrable grass. It means that there's a lot more forgiveness for those slightly wayward shots.

Problem now, however, is that on some cross slopes it's quite possible to play a good shot and find yourself on the other side of the fairway or exceptionally acros the next fairway.!

All that said, I still think it's a beautiful place to play golf, high on the cliffs overlooking the sea and Seaton. Often very quiet in the afternoon so no rushing.

The greens were particularly well tended, bright green in a dry landscape.. Several very tricky holes, hard drives and difficult approaches.

Love it. My 'go to' golf course.

Excellent from Start to finish

From the moment I entered the club was a real pleasure met Sophie what a great champion for your club.Nothing was too much trouble.Bumped into Rob a member who assisted me via the course as lots of blind shots.

Met a lady green Keeper volunteer in Sally who gave her time for Free to help with new tees.

What a real pleasure my afternoon turned out to be. Thank you Axe Hill members and Staff 5***

Great value gem

Course is in decent condition coming out of winter. It's quirky to say the least with a good few blind shots, but that's inevitable given the cliff top terrain. Never get sick of those views. The more I play here, the more I like it. Very friendly members and staff as well.

Very Playable...

Despite the recent weather, Axe Cliff still managed to deliver. We were lucky to get a decent days weather, and the course played pretty well for the time of year, with the usual outstanding views to take your mind off the odd bad shot....😊🏌️

Awesome

The exposure to the elements, the amount of blind tee shots, and the hilly nature of this course all contribute to an exciting challenge that evokes great thought and focus with ones shot selection.

The greens are in great condition, the fairways and rough are well maintained, the atmosphere in the clubhouse is warm and welcoming and the staff are friendly and helpful.

All this complemented by fantastic views, I hope to return to play here again someday.

Axe cliff

I've been playing a few of the local courses over the last few months. Axe cliff was in very good condition for the time of year,it was nice to walk off with dry shoes and a trolley not covered in mud. I will definitely be playing there more in the months to come

Axecliff stunning views

I have played this course as a visitor for many years. Generally I would recommend it to any golfer. The course is situated high above the coastal town of Seaton and affords stunning cliff top views of Lyme Bay.

The first nine is a challenge as most greens are out of site of the teeing area. After the first seven holes the land is flatter but you are in a more elevated position. Some long par fours on the back nine and holes 15 and 16 run alongside the cliff edge giving a dramatic run in.

Unfortunately on this day we were told by a member that the tractor was out of service and so the semi, first cut rough had not been attended to for several days. This proved to be a bit of a disappointment as only a slight wayward long tee shot meant that a ball was lost immediately. This really spoiled our game as we had to replace balls in approximately the position where we saw them land. Yes we saw them land but still couldn't find them. I will need to replenish before the next game.

This is a very friendly club where staff and members are very welcoming. We will certainly be back but not until the semi-rough is restored to a reasonable cut.

Give it a go but perhaps wait until the spring .
