Always a good challenge

We enjoyed our round. The weather wasn't as forecasted but I guess this happens often at Baildon. It's a while since I last played here but nothing has changed, find the fairways if you want pars or better, miss them in the heather and even if you find your ball it's a bogey or worse.

Great Course, Excellent Value

Can’t fault it.

The course is challenging but fun. 2nd time playing here and will definitely be visiting again. Greens were immaculate. The staff are really friendly and the bar is spot on, excellent value for money.

Tough challenge

This is a very challenging course. There are no bunkers to talk of but the course is protected by the elements and the rough. You have to be hitting the ball straight on this course. Slightly off the fairway and if you find your ball in the gorse bushes, you are just trying to get it back on the fairway. Fairways and greens are good and run very true. You will do well to play this course on a still day. It is on top of the Moor and open to the wind which is a huge protective feature. A true test of your accuracy and course management. I enjoyed the challenge

Great value for money

Me and my father in law went to Baildon for a friendly round. Had a 8am tee time - the office was closed so we just teed off. Course was fairly quiet and pace of play excellent. Good selection of holes in links style. Amazing views. Always windy and a bit cold being in the moors, and there’s no rough, just heather, so a carefully thought shot selection is required. Layout of course is a bit samey but the slopes bring the course into its own. Public and dog walkers can be an issue as the course is public. Good round! Greens good but slow.

Very friendly staff, pace of play was good for a morning. Course has some nice holes with a bit of character. Greens were okay for the time of year. Slightly hilly but some lovely views. Overall thought it was great value for money and would play again. Also do a great sausage bacon and egg butty.

Beautiful golf course

Played this course the first time in windy conditions and it was tough, the course itself was in great condition though for January. Played the course again 2 days ago and the conditions were perfect. The course has a lot of undulating fairways on the hillier holes, so a good tee shot taking into account the slopes is key. Not forgiving if you miss the fairway, as the ball disappears in moorland heather. The holes are well designed and the greens are great. Thoroughly enjoyed playing this course and will visit again. Definitely a course to be played in lower wind conditions though as it’s high up and very open. Overall a great course with beautiful scenery.

Excellent course given the time of year

Stunning views from every hole of West Yorkshire. Greens were in remarkable condition given the time of year. Would be interesting playing in inclement weather! Bargain day out and we'll worth the trip. Would happily play another round or two.

Cold, wet and grey

After having a session cancelled earlier in the day, expectations were initial low of actually getting a game, however the course was open so off we went.

Overall the course was in ok condition considering the majority of courses in the area were closed due to water logging. The green were in good condition with only a couple of fairways suffering from standing water.

First time playing so shot selection was tough, so will defo be making a return visit when conditions are slightly better. Ensure accurate tee shots sounds like obvious advise but the rough is totally unforgiving and almost impossible to play out of, the fairways are wide enough to give you a chance though.

Lockers for visitors

Played as a visitor - third time. Given the recent poor weather, the course has held up very well with standing water in isolated spots in a handful of fairways. Greens in great condition - tees a little worse for wear - they have rotated tee boxes to preserve. However we have had a wet October and this course is still full playable in November.

My only gripe was how my request for leaving a backpack (was travelling) somewhere in the clubhouse was met - the lady mentioned members lockers....but yet she said they were for members...so why did she make mention of this, if I couldn't have access to these lockers as a visitor? The resulting round was very difficult, carrying my already heavy bag and a backpack round, in heavy conditions...up the severe inclines of the fifth and fourteenth in particular.

If you want to make visitors more welcome, accommodate expected needs....provide a few lockers somewhere in the clubhouse.

£15 Well Spent

Great course, great layout, very challenging. It isn’t a very forgiving course but that’s all part of the challenge and course management, go greedy, get punished (potentially). Would highly recommend playing here. I’ve paid more for worse courses and views. Held up well even after all the rain, will definitely be visiting again soon.

Value for money

Best value course I’ve played in the Leeds area, and also one of the toughest in a 30mph wind. Possible to lose a lot of balls in the tall grass which isn’t far from the fairway, which made for a fairly slow round. Still, it’s very different to other courses in the area, a lot of fun despite the difficulty, and the staff were excellent.

An adventure over the Moor

There aren't any safety fairways to catch your slice so aim left and 3 wood off the tee. If you've got a long iron in your hand, you're more likely to be dropping your next shot than putting it so you're probably best off leaving those at home. You can't even blame the greens for your bad putting either.

Do you want to know how bad you are at golf? Come here.

You won't beat your handicap but you'll enjoy it because it's a beautiful walk.
