Great course but slow play
The course itself is looking good, really good condition and with the changes made its getting better. The one downside as it always is at this course is pace of play. I was playing on my own and was stuck behind a 3 ball of members from the 2nd all the way round, this wasn't helped by the fact that none of them could hit the ball further than 150 yards. If this constant issue was sorted this would be a much better course for visitors.
A course to think your way around!
Visited Barlaston with our society 24/06 and was pleasantly impressed with the course given what you’d expect for a relatively cheap green fee. Course was in good condition and really makes you think your way round rather than just whack driver every time.
Staff in the pro shop and bar were friendly. Only minor negative was the food was expensive for the quality that was served.
Overall a very nice golf club and course and we’ll definitely be back
Lovely
Brilliant course, had a great time. Good course with a lot of interesting holes.
Great course
great course perfect weather and conditions were good
Great round
It always helps if you have a fantastic round so I'll make no apologies about that influencing this review but I really have to pay compliments to Barlaston who are making great efforts to address historical flooding issues. They also have the best deals at the moment for all the local clubs.
We've had a lot of rain and we turned up fully expecting the bottom 4_5 holes to be either off bounds or boggy at best. We saw no surface water all day and the course was in great nick. For a tenner it's an absolute bargain and I hope nobody reads this so we can keep playing without it being too busy!
Great course for everyone
Course is great!
On some sections you would think you’re on a much more prestigious course.
100% will be back.
Great course
Played barlaston the other day and not for the first time, was really surprised on well the course was playing for the time of year, staff were really helpful and had a great round.
Lack of courtesy ruins this course
Let me start by saying the course itself is in great condition and once the work is finished will look even better but the main issue as it always has been is really slow play and the older members not letting people through.
At one point in the round there were 5 groups on one par 5 because the group in front were so slow. I saw a Marshall out on the course but he was only interested in hassling the none members whereas he seemed to leave his mates alone. I actually skipped 2 holes just to get passed them otherwise I would have been looking at a 6 hour round.
Don't play here unless you can play really early in the morning or have 6 hours to spare stuck behind a group of seniors that can't hit further than 100 yards.
