LINKS, BUT NOT
Imagine the perfect combination of a Parkland course, without any trees and a Links course without any treacherous wind . . . this is the PGA Course at The Belfry!
There are some very long and tricky holes that require accuracy otherwise you will be in the water or in the sand, but it's a great test for any golfer (word of warning: bring your shovel and a ladder, the bunkers are DEEP!)
The second hole Par 5, can make or break your spirit early on (just keep it straight and avoid the hidden stream), but there are plenty of holes that are scoreable even for high handicap player like myself. The ProShop has everything you need and the after golf pints and a bite to eat was a great ending to a top round of golf.
We played at the end of October, and the greens had just been spiked, but other than that, the course was in superb condition. I think it will be in another league different class in the Summer, so I'm hoping to return again this year!
Wet but....
After all the rain this week course was pretty heavy, greens were dry and running well though.
always a pleasure?
not the first time i have done a review for the belfry but i can say it is still a pleasure to visit this venue that dose not seem to get a look in for a european tour event so easy to get here from all parts of the u.k. need i say anymore?.
PGA National @ The Belfrey
Excellent course. Tough with the conditions, very hot and breezy.
PGA National
We turned up at 9-45 for a 10-30!tee time and booked in ok we were offered an upgrade to the Brabazon but declined it because we think the PGA IS a better test of golf
We got off on time and got round the front 9 in just over 1 hour 40 mins but unfortunately we caught up 3 four balls and took nearly 2 and a half hours for the back 9 and at no point were we offered the chance to play through
The course was in good condition and the greens were pretty good for December all in all a great course for a bargain price would definitely recommend this to everyone
good day out
the course was very dry and in good condition for the time of year and there were not many playing so we had a very comfortable pace of play The one thing that disappointed us was having to pay £9 for a pot of tea for two absolutely disgraceful,.
after playing i had to go over to little aston golf club to pick up my grandson who was playing there and had a tea for two for £2.
First visit to The Belfry
The Belfry is an impressive golf centre and the fear is you may be processed along with hundreds of other golfers. The staff can make a difference and although the catering staff looked overworked the golf centre reception and starter for the courses more than made up for them.
Played in a two ball on the PGA National and started behind a 4 ball. We were played through on the 3rd and had a clear run from there. The greens and bunkers were in fantastic condition for October and the fairways always gave good lies.
Apart from the catering being eye wateringly expensive the course was a great golfing experience.
Great courses
It was a great course but booked for the first time through teeofftimes.com and they had no record of us booking.
Luckily I had mu confirmation email and they had spaces available.
Staff and course was brilliant and really helpful.
Testing golf
This is a true test of golf, if you think your playing well and too your handicap, come here and you will be brought to your knees. There are some very straight forward holes but around 5-13 the course shows it’s teeth and straight long shots are vital. If you can gain any shots on the easier holes it’s vital to do so because the tough ones are tough. Still one of the best courses I’ve played though and I love it and will gladly return again. Can’t recommend this course highly enough.
Belfry. PGA National
Excellent course once in a lifetime Historic venue staff was very courteous and willing to help. There was a problem with The reservation as it was not in the clubhouse computer from Golf now. But they did work us in at the arraigned time other than that perfect experience the actual play was all on me not my best round at one of the best courses I've ever played
Comparable to the Brabazon
Living only 4 miles from the Belfry I have a lot of experiences around the facilities. Comments on the whole would be largely positive. However I have one big criticism. There is too much uneducated traffic on the course. Traffic that seems to be incapable of raking a bunker! This is the single biggest drawback to a course that is in my opinion equally if not more enjoyable than the Brab.
PGA National
Amazing course! Very challenging but not over welming.excellent condition which you would expect from the Belfry. A must course for anyone to play..
Good for what we paid
Booked a late tee time for a bargain price and thoroughly enjoyed it. Super fast huge greens with thought provoking approaches. Thought parts of the course was in poor condition and looked in parts unloved. Lush fairways though but over used tees
Totally overpriced pull trolleys hire £7.50 let the side down . great staff and food
Good golf
Good golf but when you get to the 19th ! Two blackcurrant and lemonade £8 ! ! ! .
Avoid the bar . Food very expensive. Also it was very hot and very slow but no drinks cart
Great course
This was or third time playing the PGA course at the Belfry in about 5 years our group really enjoy the whole day at the belfry .The practice facilitates and range second to none .the PGA is a tough but fair course that you have to think your way round and Sams bar and restaurant is great for rehydration after golf .Highly recommended place for golf .
Inland links with lots of bunkers
Good value for money. Course was in good condition. Greens were true. Tree a little worn but expected that based on the amount of play. Pace of play was the only let down.booked on tee off times for £27. Well worth it.
Excellent Round
Really enjoyed our first time around here. Undulating and interesting. Lots of sand although firm in bunkers. Will certainly return
Love the links feel
Really enjoy this course. Have played it twice now and each time I would go back again without hesitation. I do have one compliant and that's the bunkers, which are plenty, and that's the sand is very hard almost like playing off a road. Apart from that mid March had to carry clubs but greens in fantastic condition and course played to length, no run at all and a touch boggy which is to be expected.
Cracking xourse
Thoroughly enjoyed my round of golf on a challenging course. Need to book the brabazon next! Fantastic facilities
