Just a nice water hazard to get over Photo submitted by Uz276GW53QTNlHsllAIs on 04/15/2021
Poor condition
I booked and played golf at Bletchingley golf course today and the condition of the course was in an unacceptable state. I understand winter conditions and rain can effect golf courses however I have played at many courses in the area in the last few weeks and months and this course was very poor. The claimed best draining course in Surrey cannot be true. Not only were the tee boxes out of bounds and we were forced to use mats which were covered in mud but also the greens were covered in large clumps of mud and parts of tree that had come down from last night. I think the course either should have been closed or the green fees should have been reduced.
Great Winter golf Experience
Fantastic course, so nice to play a course in winter in England that is actually in good knick. Fairways and greens were both really well maintained. Winter tee boxes but the Astro was flat and easy to hit from. The regular tees that were out of use looked in great condition. Will definitely be back to play in summer.
The course design is good fun, a fairly flat but undulating front 9 with a more hilly and in my opinion challenging back 9. Good putting green and nets for practice, also a driving range to warm up on. Pace was quite slow but when the sun is out and your playing a nice course on a Saturday who really cares.
Nice course
Great course
Can’t wait to play again on a warmer day
Course conditions not matching the cost
It is not a bad course, however, I booked as this is marketed as one of the best draining courses. Well for the most part the course was a mud pit and my view is to charge £45 for a round of golf on a course in this condition is crazy. At this cost probably won’t play here again. There are lots of other courses providing better value.
Nice course
Decent course and not busy, so a relaxed round even if our standard of play was not good on the day.
Has great potential
Overall I liked the course, it's quite tight though, but there are some really nice holes, especially a couple of the par 3s.
It was let down though by how hard the fairways were, and every green seemed to play differently.. For speed, whlch made it very hard to go round in a decent score. A supposedly good drive could land on the fairway and bounce almost like it was on concrete...which meant shots were constantly punished. The first green was really unreceptive, so I factored that in for the 2nd green, which ended up being very receptive....
It was hard to get into rhythm here, but I would definitely visit again maybe later in autumn. Good facilities and some decent clothing at good prices in the shop.
Sort the greens and this could be a really nice course
Normally better
Greens really let it down this time, would leave in for a few weeks before playing here
Dry greens
This course has a good layout with great fairways, but the greens was so hard and scarified too making it impossible for the ball to sit even you hit the green then the ball bobbles when putting. I have played this course in the winter time or when theres been plenty of rain and it's a much better course.
Course standing up to the amount of rain
Course is draining well and looking good as far as fairway, tees and greens are concerned. One aspect that is not as best as it could be are the bunkers. They are being raked by the club but, there is little sand and currently wet (the sand is concerned) so it is difficult to play out of these. However they can be avoided so on the whole the course is in very good nick.
Mediocre course
Played this course three times now, find most of the holes very similar.Decent pint of ghost ship in the 19th was the highlight of the day !
Excellent Course and location
Four of us from Kent, Surrey and Hampshire met up for and excellent days golf. Our first visit to the course - it won’t be the last. Good value for money , catering facilities excellent , course in great condition after lots of rain. Greens are slightly smaller than at my home course- so accuracy is key - but once on green many slopes ensure a 2 putt is not a given .
