Nice enough and not strict!

After reading a couple of bad reviews I wasn’t expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised. Yes there’s litter about and it’s a bit scruffy. But what do you expect for £16. We enjoyed a great game there. Relaxed dress code too. Keeps the posh toffs away and you can play in a relaxed fashion without any stuck up tories being around, just lovely working class folk who’ll help you find your ball and not moan about some petty regulation being broken! 😁👍

Disgusting

I never leave reviews about courses but everyone needs to know what Bootle is really like.

From hole 1 to 18 beer bottles, drinks cans and rubbish litter the hedges. Almost every green has not been maintained. Lots of Terrible bald muddy patches everywhere. Lads smoking weed whilst playing golf. Lads playing golf with no shirt on. Lads just walking on from the estates and playing random holes. No Etiquette anywhere, it’s horrible. The man in the shop totally uninterested. They’ve got the cheek to charge £16. Save your money guys and go elsewhere. The whole place is disgusting. Seriously Bootle sort it out.

Good value for a municipal

Good course overall. Condition of fairways is good for the time of year. Temporary greens aren't the best but understandable for April. Decent for £16.

Don’t go

Booked this course online through Golfnow and paid the full £17.

It’s a cheap course so I don’t expect much but every single hole is a temporary green which I wasn’t informed of beforehand.

better than expected

great value for money, £17 Saturday morning, bargain, which got me thinking prior to the WHY?

i need not have worried. great friendly reception in the shop, course in great condition considering we have had no rain for months. yes the fairways are scorched but expected, yes the greens are bare in areas but expected, and yes the ground was rock hard and playing fast. as this is one of the last municipal golf courses in the area it needs to be used and kept open. too many municipal golf courses have been bought, had little investment and green fees doubled. im sure most golfers learnt how to play golf on their local municipal course, lets keep courses like Bootle out of the hands of private companies and keep cheap,. local golf available to all.
