Solid wood of Bluebells and bird calls all made the course that much more special. Photo submitted by Ltjones2004 on 04/24/2024
A gem in the rough
The Manor course is an absolute gem hidden in the rough of the forest. If you are golfing in either the Bournemouth or Southampton area it is very easily accessible and is a must visit! A very well maintained course with some great challenges.
Manor Course
This is probably one of the best courses I have played..... and I have played some good ones.
The course was immaculate, the greens fast but true. The rough was long enough to be a problem but short enough so you could find your ball quickly. Pace of play was just right for our 3 ball.
The only downside was tee times were delayed by 30 minutes when we arrived but we were kept informed and collected from the practice area when ready.
All in all, a steal for the money and as Arnie says.... I'll be back
Good day out
Excellent course, great layout and superb condition. Excellent days golf!!
Dragged through the mire
I have played the Manor course on many occasions and it used to be a very well conditioned course. But each time I have visited it since, it has progressively deteriorated and today was the worst it has ever played. From the naked eye, the course looks in good condition but when you start playing, it becomes clear that there is a serious lack of attention to detail here.
The tee boxes are poorly manicured and divots on the tee boxes are either not replaced or adequately filled in. Yellow tee markers were poorly maintained. The fairways were not bad would benefit from another cut. Same story with the greens, they looked very pleasing from a distance but were very slow to putt on. On numerous occasions, the bunkers had a number of stones in, all mixed size.
The staff were very friendly and I really like the layout of this course but it feels like everything is being done to cut corners and save money which leaves a bad end product. Although I only paid £35, it is certainly not worth £35, let alone the full £95 summer green fee price. There are much better manicured courses in the area who charge significantly less for 18 holes.
I was left very disappointed and I will not be returning to play the Manor Course for a long time. I hope the management team read this review and make significant changes to the course.
Dad and son birthday treat
Fantastic start with a putting contest for charity even before we teed off , lovely people running this , hopefully raised a lot of money, course was in superb condition, with pace of play perfect, as a two ball let through when others in front looking for lost balls , greens true from start to finish , club staff polite and informative, highly recommended will definitely be back
Good course. Fairways not good enough for the hype
Good course however on a number of holes the fairways were as long as most 1st cut roughs which was a real shame considering all the hype I'd heard around this course. I think there was maybe 3/4 holes where the fairways were cut but from the length of the daisys it had still been a few days.
The greens were lovely and well kept.
Great looking coarse, slowest play ive ever seen.
I was a 10:30 tee off (single golfer) and after 3 holes i was behind 3 older gentleman who were far from fast and never offered me to play through. 10 minute wait every hole. Eventually they caught another 4 ball who were even slower, the 4 ball let the 3 ball through on the 14th. i was on the tee box at the same time as the 4 ball on the 15th 3 of who went into the trees and one 100 yards down the fairway, still no offer to play through they even looked for their balls for 5+ minutes while i was standing waiting. I got to the next hole 16th and there were 3 on the green 3 in the fairway and the four on the tee. at that point i walked off the coarse , have never seen slow play like it, and for that reason i would never play the coarse again which is unfortunate as it was in great condition.
A very beautiful course with super greens
Good course. It is long and testing. The pins were in awkward positions so no easy golf at any time. Shortest par 3 was 165 yds. Was our first 18 holes for a while as our home club was severely restricted over the winter due to continuous heavy rain.
Not aware playing as a par 3 course
I feel super disappointed - when you are able to play the full course it is good but I arrived to find that we were having to play from mats at the 150 or 100 yard markers even on the par 5s and that we would actually be playing 16 par 3s and two short par 4s - £30 for me and £30 for my 15 year old son - I felt ripped off - very disappointing
Bit weird. Club a bit up themselves
An interesting round. We booked and it said that mats were used on about half the holes. That's fine. It's winter. However what they didn't say was the the mats were nowhere near the original tee boxes. I expected for the to just be in front. No, all the holes using mats were made into par 3's. Including two par 5's. And there was no need. Not been raining for a week and the course was in good nick! They should have stayed that the course was playing a par 62 not a par 70. This would have been much more transparent.
Also some of the members shouted at us for teeing off in a tee box when we shouldn't have as the pro shop told us the wrong holes where we could use the tee box. Very confusing.
Finally. When the round was over I was using the air compressor to clean the mud of my trolley wheels. Something I've done around 200 times before at other courses. Someone came out and told me off for using that on my trolley!? Apparently it's for shoes only!? That makes no sense. If my shoes are caked in mud, then what's the difference. Never heard that one before. They seem like that club from the 80's that would probabaly tell me off for wearing the wrong colour socks or something. Will play again in the aspiring or summer as the course was great. But overall experience was a bit rubbish. Just be transparent and stop being up yourselves.
Excellent course
Brilliantly laid out course which meanders through the forest offerng a variety of challenging holes.
Fairways are well defined and the greens roll true being in excellent condition.
Definitely a course to play if you’re in the area.
Staff very friendly and helpful, and a good clubhouse where you can enjoy a well deserved pint overlooking the 18th green.
Lovely course , greens not great
Was a fantastic day out , got it at a decent price so can’t really complain , I wish the club( who I actually phoned ) or golf now would tell people there’s a members comp on before taking a booking , but apart from that was great , lovely course , greens not great, spoke with some former members who said it wasn’t as good as it was, it’s never a £95 a round course or even £75 , it’s just not ( where is?) worth £40 is about right , but due to the uptake of golf all these clubs are overcharging these days , some we play have empty tees because they’re overcharging, surely reduce the price and make more money, get people on the course ( Meyrick park) if you aren’t teeing off til late afternoon then should be minimum half price .
Excellent course
The Manor course is very well laid out and meanders through the Forest offering a variety of different challenges on each hole.
Fairways and greens were in very good condition.
I would definitely add this course to any bucket list if you are in the area. Real value for money and a true test of golf
