Calverly Golf Course
Very hilly course. Course in general was in good condition. Winter greens in use due to ongoing green maintenance. Holes 1- 16 in use only due to further maintenance.
Crap
Don’t go here if it’s not summer. Winter greens everywhere with 10ft putting holes. Really disappointed.
For the time of year the course was in reasonable condition. However final two holes are not playable and therefore you can choose to play another two holes again at the end.
Staff in the shop will explain the changes.
Winter greens not great
So most of the winter greens were difficult to play. Order of playing holes were different from previously playing this course but not very well communicated. Bumped into several over groups who were lost and not sure were next tee was…
Potential to be nice course
Layout of the course is good, however it seems to have got the better of the grounds staff the fairways need a once over but the greens need a lot of attention they are in a very poor state it could be a nice course with a bit of hard work
Good Value for money!
I played Calverly last week for £12 and for that sort of price you can’t complain. Greens are hit n miss but we were extremely satisfied overall ! Will definitely be returning!
Poor Greens
The course is very compact, and very little signage to point you in the direction of the next hole. The greens were in a terrible condition, brown, not green, sandy / muddy, in fact the 10th wasn't even a green. Additionally, five of the back nine didn't have a have present.
Those poorly greens
Im sure and i wont be the first and i wont be the last to cmment on thestate of the greens i appreciate the dry conditions weve had and the price of water but if you dont water you get ruined greens !!! Now i dont have the answeres but some body at the club better have because it will be come unplayable and i know £ 10 a round is cheap but its no good if you cant play the game i hope you address and dort the problem out ss the rest of the course was fine some nice holes good luck
Very fairly priced
Calverley is a local course to me that I often find myself returning to. With the golf now deals playing a full 18 for less than 10 pounds is a fantastic deal, even without the average green fee being 12-15 offers a good cheap round of golf.
Is it perfect? No of course not, the greens at time of playing were a little worse for wear but other than that, fairways are and tee boxes are fantastic, pace of play was great and the iconic 5th hole always gets the heartbeat racing as you step up.
Overall it’s well worth a visit
Value for money
Course itself was in good condition, some greens better than others and some needed work doing to them. Cheap to play and overall not a bad course, definitely value for money.
DISGRACEFUL GREENS
Please read other reviews I wish I would have taken note, genuinely the worst greens if you can even call them that I have ever seen, how they are that damaged is beyond me, no work can possibly ever be put into them they are just left with massive holes uncut full of weeds , you will only believe if you see it, if they sorted the greens it would actually be half decent but please save your money
Dreadful greens
The greens was in a dreadful state, due to the crow’s, this was never pointed out when we went into the golf shop. Shame the course layout is good, but it’s very tired and staff don’t seem to care.
Good value for money. The dry summer conditions had dried out greens.
Course in poor condition in places
This is a tired golf course in need of basic maintenance - poor greens and bunkers are a disgrace
Calverley
Nice layout of holes since it has been changed a few years ago. It is a shame that the greens are really poor, because the course is good with some really nice holes. If they sort the greens out I would play again, for eleven pounds though it still was very good value, and I would play it again.
Honestly don't even bother
Greens were in the worst condition on a course I have ever seen. There was literally a trough of rough through one of them.
It's almost like this course gets absolutely no treatment, the teeboxes were uneven and most greens were either rock hard or sponge soft, along with the holes, divots and long grass on them.
