Great value

Never played the course before and despite playing like I'd never swung a club before it was a really enjoyable 18. The pro was great explaining layout and how best to navigate. Most greens in great condition considering the heatwave. Some great challenging holes making you think and nice forgiving fairways. If I'm in the area again then will definitely play again. Great value for the price.

Improving!

Course is improving, after a lot of flack and a few bad years. Great summer track for a steady knock and work on your game. Few testing holes like the 4th and 17th in particular. Course still has a way to go with some dead holes like the 6th, but for £12.50 I still get enjoyment out of visiting and if my young son grows up to take an interest in Golf, I could see us actually being members at a place like this whilst he gets going. Best stretch is probably 13-15, 3 back to back dog legs with some challenging shots as you go. Good to see the course finally off temps and playing as a true 18. Hope they keep on improving.

Vast improvement

I last played the course a couple of years ago when the greens and fairways were in poor condition. I have no complaints at all this time and will certainly be going back. Thoroughly enjoyed it and can recommend it.

Course condition

There are three or 4 damaged or vandalised greens. The fairways were long and indistinguishable from the semi rough. The tees were uncut and scruffy. We caught up with a competition 3 holes in front and play was very very slow. Course layout and design is good but it feels unloved. But we only paid £12

Good course

Fantastic course, when taking up golf again after 20 years. Played alongside my son and we had a great time. We were made very welcome in the Shop and Club house. Bar manager even made us Bacon sandwiches, as the chef had not turned up when we arrived. Like to say thankyou to a lady member who went out of her way to explain the course to us. Will be playing here again.

Course held up great

Played in horrendous rain conditions and really though it would be a boggy mess and horrible play, only thing that was horrible was the weather (and a few of my shots), the course was no way boggy, the greens still played really well and no water logging problems anywhere, value for Money is fantastic, and it is very picturesque, the views are fantastic, will be playing again and can’t wait to try the course out in better weather,

Enjoyable golf course

Chap on the Pro shop was very nice, gave me some advice and explained how the course worked and where to go.

Tee boxes weren’t great but the fairways were all pretty well kept and the greens generally speaking were good!

Some fun holes and an interesting course would recommend

Much improved

The course was in much better condition than the last few times I’d played. Layout has changed but some holes not clearly marked so needs a sign or two adding to help with this.

Nice layout

The tees are in poor condition, and the course is tired, it’s a shame because the course is well designed. The price was excellent and staff very friendly.

Calverl5

I have been playing at Calverley for about a year, new to golf as recently retired. Mid week not to busy so no need to rush. Not many difficult bunkers, so helpful for an average golfer..

Hole 5 is really challenging which makes you concentrate.

Friendly crowd.
