Buffalo Creek Golf Club
About
Highly touted Buffalo Creek has been praised for its layout, condition, and overall attention to detail. No matter who you talk to in the DFW area, they all seem to praise the superb condition of the course from tee to green. Offering a 7,078-yard par 71 Jay Morrish/Tom Weiskopf design, Buffalo Creek offers a good combination of holes: straight holes, dogleggers, uphill and downhill shots, and both long and short holes.
One of the best features is the club’s method of using a pin location sheet to mark exactly where each pin is located on a particular day (up to six locations), which is unbelievably helpful to hacks who’ve never played the course before and have no feel for the look and contour of the greens.
Getting there : Take I-30 east from Dallas and exit Ridge Rd. Turn right and find the course 1.6 miles down on the left.

Nice coarse
This is a very nice coarse, would have given it 5 stars on condition other than the greens had been aerated recently.
Last Minute Round
When the owners announced that they were working to return Buffalo Creek back to it's original condition I had my doubts. Having played BC when it first opened, compared to what it had become, I felt it would be a monumental task. Well I am excited to say, they are pretty dang close!
I haven't seen the course in this great of shape since the early 2000's! It is lush to say the least. A few of the greens had a couple of areas that were under repair, but overall they ran true, and were in excellent condition. The reworked tee boxes were amazing, and the fairways were pristine.
Can you tell I was very impressed?
If you haven't play Buffalo Creek in a while give it another try. I think you'll be glad you did.
Challenging test of Golf
This was my second time playing this course
This is a shot makers golf course is a good amount of water on the front and a challenging finishing 3 holes, but if you can hit it straight you don’t need to be crazy long to score.
We got out this weekend at 7am as a twosome and finished in 3:10
The time before was a 10:30 start and 4:20min so pace of play is vey good.
Highly recommended
Note. I heard they will punch the greens June 7
Great condition
Its great to see the excellent condition of this course. It has always been one of my favorite layouts in north Texas. The improvements last year definitely payed off.
Worth the drive away from the Metroplex
Always a great round at Buffalo Creek. Course is in excellent condition - greens, fairways, tee boxes, bunkers, you name it. Pace is expected to be busy on a Saturday morning, but not terribly slow. Staff was nice enough to let me go on with another single in front of a six-some (who booked 3 and 3 as back to back times) instead of pairing us as singles in their groups.
Love this course layout! Some scorable short par 4 holes, but also some challenge holes where strategy and a precise tee shot can either make for solid hole or a big number (if you take the long route to the hole and miss the fairway).
Definitely love this gem a little further out from Dallas proper. Always a great time! Will be back again soon.
Buffalo Creek
Overall the course is in good shape. There are a few small dead spots on a few greens from last year's freeze. Some of the bunkers are low on sand, but they are going through a bunker renovation. With all that being said it's still a very enjoyable round of golf. It's a great layout with some forced carries, narrow fairways and undulating greens. Will play here again.
Always fun
Had not been here for a while. Was great as always. Great practice facility. Great food. Course has interesting and diverse layout. Give women a decent advantage so we can hit our second shot along side the men. Very nice!
Great course in Rockwall
Traveling to RockWall and wanted to play golf. Tried Golf Now and everything, that is EVERYTHING went as promised and expected. NO hidden surprises or hidden fees. Knew what it would be prior to signing up and it was EXACTLY THAT. A side note, Buffalo creek was a very challenging course, as well as rewarding, if you hit the ball where you should. Definitely will play it again and recommend it to my golf buddies.
Still Needs Work
I had heard the new owners had plowed money into the place but while yes, the bunkers were re-done and were great, the greens were very disappointing. It was like putting on greens that had been aerated within the last week. Not sure what is going on but wont be back until I hear the greens are back in business. Everything else about the course was fine.
first time back in 10 years
I had been to Buffalo Creek in about 10 years. Most of it was the same with some new bunkers and what looked like improved drainage. The bunkers were really nice. Bermuda grass was still trying to come in and the greens were really bumpy and crusty. Not too bad for transition time though. The layout is pretty fun with a few shorter holes and a few demanding ones. I was fortunate enough to reach the par 5's in two, which is always fun. Practice area could use a little TLC but the free range balls were nice. Starter also got us a course yardage book, which was very nice and I used it a few times. Pace was pretty slow, but it was a Saturday afternoon on Easter weekend. All in all, glad to have gone back and might try it again once the grasses come in.
Excellent Golf Course!
Wow, what a fun course! For this time of year course was in great shape. Lots of grass in the fairways, and greens were rolling quick and true. This is kind of a hidden gem for me. It will be in spectacular shape in about 3-5 weeks with some rain.
Nice overall
Good layout, a few challenging holes where course knowledge is a must, but nothing gimmicky. Greens definitely need to improve but the regulars that I played with spoke favorably about the course owners' commitment and progress so far.
