Buffalo Creek Golf Club
About
Highly touted Buffalo Creek has been praised for its layout, condition, and overall attention to detail. No matter who you talk to in the DFW area, they all seem to praise the superb condition of the course from tee to green. Offering a 7,078-yard par 71 Jay Morrish/Tom Weiskopf design, Buffalo Creek offers a good combination of holes: straight holes, dogleggers, uphill and downhill shots, and both long and short holes.
One of the best features is the club’s method of using a pin location sheet to mark exactly where each pin is located on a particular day (up to six locations), which is unbelievably helpful to hacks who’ve never played the course before and have no feel for the look and contour of the greens.
Getting there : Take I-30 east from Dallas and exit Ridge Rd. Turn right and find the course 1.6 miles down on the left.

Excited for the finished product but woof…
I friendly disclaimer would’ve been nice that all of the boxes are under repair so you’re essentially playing from the front tees for half the holes and a lot of the boxes are on fairways and a ton of extrapolation required to have a good time. Greens were also punched at the same time which made essentially every aspect of the round have an asterisks. I definitely would not have played if I had know. The conditions. There should be more transparency across all booking sites of what we are getting ourselves into. Near $70 for a round in these conditions in not reasonable. Excited for the changes! But I won’t be back until they’re complete.
Making progress
The course was under maintenance on most holes either tee box or bunkers. It appears they are doing a good job starting fresh with most tee boxes instead of trying to patch them up. It it made for a lot of short iron and wedge approaches. I still enjoyed the layout despite playing forward on a number of holes. Fairways were in good shape and greens rolled nice. Staff was friendly and beverage cart came around 4 times during the round. Pace was decent considering playing on a holiday weekend. Once they get the rest of the sand down, and some turf on the tees this will be one of the best courses in the metroplex.
Love the course, but it's under repair
Great course with pretty much everything, but it's under repair from storms earlier this year (some tee boxes are totally ripped up and being redone). Also the sand can be like a beach and difficult to play.
Under repair
Much of the course is being worked on tees, fairways and bunkers. They have patch some bare spots around the greens which can force you to play a more difficult shot than you could have played. Greens are in great shape. Overall a good experience.
Under Construction
Some tee boxes are completely torn up. Bunkers under construction as well. One hole had 4 groups playing the same hole back up was bad. Could be a great course after construction but not worth what they are charging for a course that’s under construction. Need to lower the rates to reflect that.
Ehhh
Cart attendance must have messed around as the sign for hole location to hole 1 or 10 was switched around, Direct to 1 says to go to 10 and vice versa. There were multiple tee boxes closed and under construction. No garbage cans or receptacle around tee boxes. There were no toilet paper in the club house or halfway house or anywhere on the course. Course condition is poor (due to excessive rain). Good layout and has its challenges. Staff was nice/friendly. Will give it awhile as it has an opportunity become an excellent course, but for now not worth the price (yet).
Course Review
The winter storm did a lot of damage to the course. Still plenty of bare spots in the fairway and around the green. A number of tee-boxes are currently under repair. Some of the greens have also been damaged.
Played this past Sunday (6/6) and it was a five hour plus round, Having a five some two groups ahead of us sure didn't help. 3.5 out of 5.
Great course!
First time playing this course and I will 100% be back! The layout of the course was very well done and looked very impressive as well as VERY challenging. The greens were nice and fast and the staff was great! Well worth the money, I will be back next week!
New owners & Management company are awesome
The course is in amazing shape since the last time I played which was prior to the new owners. They are making some serious strides at putting this course back the the condition it deserves. Given the hard winter we had, there were a few dead tee boxes which is to be expected but absolutely nothing ruined this round.
Good time
The course was in great shape for the time of year. Challenging but not to hard for me. Definitely look forward to going back and playing again.
Play here!
This was my first time playing this course. It was perfect weather. The fairways were
dormant so the ball rolled quite a bit. The greens were fast but not difficult to read. I highly recommend playing this course.
