Church Stretton

Quite an experience. Stunning views, exceptionally friendly course and one that is quite challenging. Would recommend to anyone. You need to be fit though for the hills!

An absolute must-play!

Let's get my only criticism out of the way - some of the grass on the greens was so dead that it was showing the mud underneath and that made some putts very difficult to read.

But wow, what a course! Set in the Shropshire Hills which are a recognised AONB and what a area it is. The views were stunning. The course was actually quite tough, there were a few holes where I had to run up the hill first just to see where on earth I was supposed to be hitting it! Very challenging but very fun. I did take a push/pull cart and it is difficult but if you are moderately able-bodied then you should be fine - don't let it stop you from going if you don't have a standing/pencil bag.

You will lose a few balls so make sure you pack a few extras! I paid £11.99 for my round which was great value for money.

Stunning Views

It’s all dead uphill to the 4th tee and I mean proper uphill with three par 3s to get you up. Once you are up the scenery is magnificent, the course is well conditioned and a great lay out. Watch out for the wind though.

A unique golfing experience!

I had read some very positive reviews of Church Stretton before I visited and I was not disappointed! The course was in fab condition and the views from every tee box are breathtaking!

To walk the course is most certainly a workout but a worthwhile one! I’ve seen some people complain about the number of blind shots but this only added to my enjoyment! There are plenty of short par 4s for birdie chances and the first 3 holes as par 3s was certainly something I’ve never experienced before.

Overall a superb little course which I would love to play again!

P.s. Mind the sheep!

Ultimate place for winter golf

This course is fantastic in the summer, but where it really shines is the winter. I booked a round here as my local club was totally shut due to the rain we'd had. Almost all other clubs in the local area were only running a select few holes or on temps which is not ideal. Church Stretton however never use temps all year round and I can see why - you would think it hadn't rained there for weeks.

Greens were dry as a bone and ran well and the overall condition given its December was incredible.

Booked via a hot deal for £17 each which I feel is an absolute bargain. Some very picturesque views as you work your way up the hill too.

Eccentric course with wonderful views

Not the hardest but one of the highest courses in England, Church Stretton provides a wonderful challenge and has real wow factor. As long as you are happy to share the course with sheep and happy with the steep climbs. One of my favourite courses in Shropshire.
