Superb condition
Thoroughly enjoyed my round. Due to being October I began in mist but the sun soon shone. The views are incredible! The course, despite being shorter than most, is extremely challenging & the greens can be tricky. Thanks to all staff for putting on a great course. It's my second visit. I will return
Great track
Moorland course which presents so very tricky holes. Very good price. The off-course amenities were a proshop and a bar/restaurant, both were closed when I arrived at 10am, but the proshop was open when I finished. I’ll be playing again.
Walm Welcome
Very welcoming, friendly and informative staff.
Testing course especially with a few gusts of wind.
Hill Top Heaven
A superb course with some very testing holes, (3Rd is a gem!) the views of the Shropshire countryside are breathtaking and the course itself very well laid out although some of the inclines between holes are very steep. Can’t recommend this golf course highly enough.
Great day
We played on the hottest day of the year. A unique playing experience amidst the glacial moraine of south shropshire with stunning views from all holes. Very friendly and informative staff.
Great Days Golf
Had a great day, booked via golf now on hot deal and paid £21 so value for money was excellent, still wouldn't want to pay £40 though anywhere. Conditions were perfect and the course wasn't too busy, Club Pro was extremely helpful and very friendly even approached us after the round asking if we had enjoyed ourselves. Nice pint in the sun afterwards. Will definitely play again in the near future
Stunning views
Stunning scenic views from every tee box , not a long course but you have a climb on nearly every hole so would recommend a buggie. Greens were difficult to read but in very good condition and the club pro was very helpful,
A great golfing experience
This course would be played once by every golfer. A unique test which changes from day to day. Links style golf on top of a hill!
Great Track
What a great course, on paper looks very easy with lots of par 3’s and no par 5’s, this is not the case. A really good challenge to see how your game is, really need to plot your way around if looking to score well.
Elevated Tee’s and greens and greens that are low down in the hills and valleys.
Wind is a major factor when choosing club selection as well as the where the greens are as per the above.
Greens were lighting quick but surprisingly in really good condition.
Next time I will carry rather than power caddy, looking forward to playing on a hot day.
Simply put, this is a gem of a golf course. Firm and dry underfoot and playing like it was the middle of summer - a vast difference to the usual mud wading of other courses in the region, including my own home course. I particularly love the links style, having to aim at barber poles, blind approach shots and the hilly terrain, even though some of the paths are steep and rugged. It is a course that demands course management and a bit of 'outside the box' thinking. Windy as it was when we played, it was still very playable, and with the winter bracken having died back, finding a ball in the rough is a doddle (not sure how this will work in summer though...). The course is at the top of my "we are going back there" list and it will take something extremely special to lodge it from that position.
PS The rating for the off course amenities is simply because we did not use them. The first time we played the club house was closed, so yesterday we just went to a pub in the village after the game.
Hard in the hills
This course is never easy. With hills that need crampons not spikes and permanent strong winds it's a test for the best. Great greens and fairways and maybe one day I'll par that first hole.
Needs maintenance
Spectacular views and a few quirky holes , but overall this course was very disappointing and not enjoyable . The course layout is confusing , the walking tracks between many holes are in poor condition, especially on the 8 th hole . Sheep dominate several fairways .
If you play this course , do not use a manual trolley particularly on a windy day . My rented trolley toppled over dozens of times .
This course is better suited to low handicap golfers who will be more capable of managing such a challenging course
Certainly unique!
Booked online and rang contact number to book a cart/buggy due to hilly terrain. However, turned up to find pro shop closed and no sign of buggy. Fortunately had our own pull trolleys so could actually play! Also no cards available which would have helped. Not the best of starts. Found the course far too difficult in terms of access and general enjoyment. Views excellent and greens good. However, fairways are tight and any wayward balls are moreorless gone with the fairies!. Must be a nightmare in winter conditions and quite dangerous with steep slopes to negotiate. We are seniors and could only manage 12 holes before deciding to give it a miss. Sorry members for a negative review but wish your club well.
Stunning round
If you haven’t played at Church Stretton, book a round now. Probably the most characterful course in England.
Corse condition was as good as I’ve seen and the welcome in the pro shop is always warm.
Can’t wait to get back up and take in the views.
Quirky, Unique and Fun
Picked as a quick round before heading back to Scotland on the May Bank Holiday and completely underestimated the climb. Roughly equivalent to going a hill walk with my golf bag; I highly recommend anyone to take a trolley as a minimum!
Rewarded with excellent weather and with the course to myself this was treat. I imagine it is much more difficult with the ferns and rough longer than when I played, and a blustery wind would be tough too. Not a long course by any means, I was happy with the challenge provided by blind approaches and undulating fairways.
Reminded me a lot of Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire and Whiting Bay on Arran, although the views are much more spectacular. Course was immaculate for heathland, greens were brick hard too.
Quirky, unique and good fun - a must play for anybody allowed to take their clubs on a family holiday.
Spectacular as usual
I love Church Stretton golf course. It's completely unique and a real test of your golfing brain. The views are amazing and the course condition was superb - greens are unreal at the moment. Definitely worth a visit.
