The land that now provides a home to Quarry Golf Course was formerly the abandoned Alamo Cement plant. Keith Foster converted this unique location into a challenging layout with a links-style front nine and a back nine that plays entirely through an abandoned rock quarry with walls over a 100 feet tall on three sides. The first half of the golf course features plays through open fields of rolling hills with native grasses and a near absence of trees. Creeks and streams come into play on six holes of the front nine. The quarry pit on the back nine is truly the most unique feature on the golf course. Quarry Golf Course's most dramatic hole is the 17th, which requires a tee shot over a deep ravine that is framed by a 40-foot waterfall.

Very cool course!

This course is one of those must-play courses! The views and scenery are awesome! It's not terribly long but has a lot of elevation changes, water, and other hazards that make it very challenging. The staff was extremely friendly, the carts were new and well equipped with GPS. The only negative is that there are no markers on the course or on the GPS map in the cart indicating the boundaries for cart use. Your cart just dies randomly until you figure out where it is that they don't want you to go. Otherwise, great experience!!!

Front 9 greens were in poor condition. Back 9 greens were much better. Course is absolutely stunning to look at. Got paired with a member and his 30 y/o son. They played extremely slow and probably extended time of round by an hour. Very nice guys. But sloowwwwww players. Overall I enjoyed it but the greens could be better

Different type of Hazards

Links design and Rock Quarry Pit offer a golfing experience that stays with you. Course analysis, Strategy, and Scrambling skills are essential.

Bring balls.... you'll need them.

Greens are a mix of fast and slow. Inclines and oscillations. They were tough for me. Green play is usually my strong suit. I'm visiting from Chicago. Wish I had time, I would play solo to better familiarize myself with the course and improve my skills simultaneously. Two-four balls a hole. Have fun whatever you do.

Great Course, Skip the Carts

Loved the layout and routing of the Quarry. Truly had a blast plunging into the old dug out quarry on the back and climbing my out. Hate those carts that limit where your able to drive them. I played in the winter after they've just cut all of the high growth natural areas so they just looked like rough. Anytime I approached these areas the cart would lock up and I'd have to go in reverse. Next time I play the Quarry, I'm walking. You can't even take the cart to your car.

Great Course for Texas Winter Golf

Pace of play was a little slow but that is to be expected during the holidays when its 76 degrees outside in San Antonio. The course was in good condition considering the time of year. It would be unfair to rate the greens because we just had a hard freeze and to protect the greens the maintenance staff let them grow out which made them difficult to figure out the speed (extremely slow). The layout of the course is great, provides an opportunity to play a number of different shots. I will be returning to play again later in the year.

Great course

Had no idea what to expect. Front 9 open, elevation changes that made it enjoyable. Back was even better. Was an amazing view from every hole and challenging to say the least. Would recommend to anyone visiting San Antonio.

A Must Play

When in the San Antonio, TX area this is a must stop if you like to golf. Two distinct nines. The front nine is a links style course...fairways bordered by long grass. Always good to keep it in the fairways for sure. Greens held well and putted very nicely. A variety of holes required lots of different clubs. A good test for sure. The back nine was "down" in an old quarry and is absolutely beautiful. Loved playing this side. Lots of rock features and some strategy is needed to negotiate this nine. Every hole took some good golf concentration to get the tee ball in the fairway and then figure out what it took to get it too the very large greens. A very enjoyable and picturesque nine holes. Will definitely put this course on my replay list when in the area.
