The Quarry Golf Course

Visiting San Antonio and tried this fascinating course built into an old quarry. Scenic and unique venue. Grounds superbly maintained. Water galore. Sand too. Also deep grass which eats off fairway balls. Play starts on the 10th hole for the summer as it gets too hot in the quarry later in the day. I enjoyed the course so much I went back the next day.

I haven’t played the Quarry in a long time, but, I decided to take another look. The Course has been redone. The fairways and the greens are in as good as shape as I’ve seen them

the new facilities for lessons is nearly completed. Quarry is going to give the other courses a run for their money.

The really disappointing thing is that there’s a

4 to 5 year waiting list for membership with 400 people on it and you can’t get a membership there anymore.

Tee times are hard to get often time except in the heat of the day

Apparently someone let the word out.

The course is great, but it takes 6+ hours to finish a round. There are hackers out there who can't get around the course, and there is no marshal enforcing the pace of play.

From breakfast to check in to the range and than onto the golf course everyone was fantastic. The golf course was in superb shape! Tees, fairways and green are the best we've played since TPC Scottsdale. We will definitely be back soon.

Great course. Beautiful scenery. The only way that this is not all five’s were the pace of play. I wish the Marshall would have come around to help speed up play. Another suggestion would be he could offer cold towels. Don’t want people passing out with heat exhaustion.

Tee to green great shape. Greens are really looking and rolling good.

When I say pace of play was brutal - imagine 3 separate groups waiting in line on a tee box, 1 group waiting on the fairway, & 1 group on the green. This went on for the entire front 9. It spaced out a bit on the back but we never got a consistent pace or good rhythm to the round. The water stations ran out of water before 4 o’clock, the hottest part of the day. We expressed our concern with the Marshall but it didn’t look like he spoke to a single group about picking up the pace. Course was in great shape & staff were very friendly but there were too many groups crammed with no relief. Groups should be monitored for the first couple of holes so a consistent pace is held. Our group baked waiting on the cart more than we golfed.

This was my first time playing here and I was extremely impressed. Bag drop services, great practice center and very good course conditions. Clubhouse and restaurant were also very nice and clean. It was refreshing seeing plenty of employees. Customer service was 10/10 and we saw the bev cart plenty of times. Loved the back 9 and the variety of holes. They do everything right! Will be back.
