About
Silverhorn Golf Club of Texas, located only 15 minutes from San Antonio's Riverwalk, has quickly gained a reputation as being some of the best golf in Texas. The layout covers 262 scenic acres of rolling hills covered in mature oaks and cedar trees. The challenging golf course features tree-lined fairways and carefully contoured greens. There are also lakes and creeks, both dry and wet, coming into play throughout the golf course. The front nine's signature hole is the par-5 sixth, which has 20 acres of water bordering the entire left side, while the back nine's signature is the par-4 15th, which is considered the toughest hole on the golf course. This 446-yard hole features an elevated green that is guarded by a large bunker on the left and two creeks crossing the fairway.

Nice Cource
As it rained the day bevore, it was a little damp. But it was a nice course to play.

Hill Country vibes 20 minutes from Riverwalk
Silverhorn is a gem of a course. It’s a decent challenge with tight tree-lined fairways, water and undulation. I was staying on the riverwalk and wanted to play a track with a Hill Country feel that wasn’t too much of a hike - Silverhorn delivered. Course was in excellent condition especially considering the storm from the night before. Great greens, lots of wildlife (can practically pet the deer). My only gripe is that my golf cart was not working properly - I had to hitch a ride back to the clubhouse where instead of giving me a new cart they told me how to try and fix my cart (to no avail). I ended up walking a few holes until they finally brought me a new one. That was frustrating since my tee time had already been pushed back 1.5 hours due to storm repairs.

Over priced for what they offer
79.95 for the privilege of playing the course. I will say it’s the best I ever saw the course. But it is not even close to the quarry, the resort course or the Palmer.
All of which give you no cost range balls and at least 2 bottles of water.

A Real Gem
This course was a pleasant surprise. The greens and fairways were in excellent shape, and there was plenty of shade to keep the sun away. I will definitely come again!

No Etiquette
Management believes if you maintain pace of play you do not need to let people play through. The same groups receive the first two or three times every day. They will tell you that you have access but these times are never open. I have seen 12 people on a hole waiting for these people and they don’t care.. weekend play is slow and tedious with no Marshall. Plan on paying. $3.50 for a bottle of water. Seriously considering playing elsewhere. Management defends the slow play yet their sister club has slow play rules in place. Not worth the money.

Good Value
I played on a "Hot Deal" and was paired up with 2 other plays. My 1st time on the course. We played on a Thur and pace of play was exceptional til a 2Some caught us on 16.
I would recommend playing "target golf" to the 150 yd markets your first time. Fairways are narrow and a lot of greens are elevated or slope severely on the sides. A good challenge. Greens putted well, and for summertime play they held decent enough.
Several holes were a bit "gimmicky", had blind shots, and contours on the fairways where a middle of the fairway shot was rewarded into the rough. A course were you needed to play it several times in order to score well.
The layout isn't long by today's standards. A lot of tee shots can be hit with a long iron or fairway wood. About avg driving range, practice putting area, good staff and facilities. Cart girl was a bonus as always.

Absolutely surprised!
I got a tee time in the afternoon for $20 bucks and I didn’t expect much for being so cheap. It was just convenient to be close to where we were staying. The staff were friendly and the cart girls were pretty. The course it self was just shy of amazing and truly 5 stars all the way. Why… everything from tee to green blew me away. It was all in great shape. The conditions and layout were excellent. A true diamond in the rough. To compare, I just played TPC Tampa and paid $130 bucks and Silverhorn was in way better shape. Good job Silverhorn! I would of gladly paid $60 bucks to play here.

SilverhornGC in great shape
Golf course is in XCLNT condition fairways, greens although the bunkers were in good shape I found some to have more sand than others a little bit of inconsistency otherwise all good

No water coolers anywhere
Let's get to the negatives first. This course has no water coolers anywhere. Seeing how hot it gets in the summer in San Antonio, this could be a huge liability for the course. Silverhorn may want to rethink their stance after someone passes out on the course from heatstroke. Another negative is that the golf cars are outdated and have no GPS. Last negative, is that this course is more difficult than it's rating claims it to be, it's real narrow with tight corridors and woods on both sides, especially on the back nine. Now the positives: the course is always in great shape, the greens are pristine and roll very true, immaculate fairwasy, and the pace of play was pretty good. The layout is unique and challenging.
