Shame about the sand in the bunkers- concrete
My first time there with my son.
The course was as expected due to the summer of 2022, but my biggest bugbear was the bunker shots: it was like playing off concrete. Otherwise a nice course.
Pace so poor and no control
Playing a Saturday you expect slower pace of play and being a member elsewhere have experienced that but this was something else 1 hour to play 3 holes. They didn’t seem to have a clue how to Marshall the pace, didn’t seem to be able to figure it out. I’m front of us there were no 4 balls either, so why so slow? No starter when they do need one I think. Course itself was in pretty good condition, Greens were fair. We only saw 10 holes as after 3 hour and 20 mins we had to leave. Won’t be going back anywhere near a weekend if that’s how the Marshall the course.
Poor condition
Some interesting holes but tee boxes, fairways and greens were way below expectations when considering the cost of the round. Some tee boxes had literally no grass to tee up in and the greens were very bobbly.
The 1st hole was in the worst condition but the course gets better as you go round.
The layout is quite good and there are a few memorable holes on the back nine. This could be a decent course if the maintenance was better.
I think something like £20 would’ve been a fair price for this.
Generally Enjoyable
Generally Enjoyable apart from the greens being sanded during my round. Apart from that, everything was fine apart from some of my golf swings
Same old same old
Would have started a lot better had the lady on the golf shop reception refrained from calling me darlin or love every second word, very classless.
Sadly also, the course still did not impress since the last time I was here, a couple of green keepers short of being not bad.
That said, it’s still a fair test, some easy holes counter balanced by some nasty’s.
Layout is good given the landscape etc though the big black mark is the insane pace of play, 4 hr 26m !
Most of which was accompanied with a grass cutter until I had to ask him to go cut grass somewhere else!
All that said, at £27, I have to give credit and all in all, decent value for money, more course maintenance and it would be great value for money, though I’m sure that won’t happen anytime soon.
Course conditions
Loved playing here as always but felt the course could do with a tidy up. There are cans and bottles strewn around the course and would take a youngster on a Saturday morning a couple of hours to walk round and tidy up for pocket money. The tee boxes are also littered with broken tees. Some of the greens are in need of some water and attention. Having said this I always enjoy playing here.
Wet n boggy but nice course
Nice course bit wet this time of year alot of plugged balls in the fairways. Greens in good in good condition. Love the 18th green outside the clubhouse. Confusing layout if not been there before. But would recommend for sure
Wonderful course , very hilly and 18000 steps but great facilities
Wet, very wet underfoot, but lovely course.
Tried to play a quick round in the morning forgetting that as it was Monday I would be following the seniors around. Despite that the pace of play wasn’t too slow.
I hadn’t played this course since last year and there appears to be a Lot of ground work being completed and continuing. With works going on through several holes. The most significant work is on hole 9 where a deep bunker is being put on the inside of the dog leg, meaning the tee had been moved approx 170 yards forward to avoid tee shot slowing the works. The course was very wet as expected given the recent weather however the tees were off of the boxes and not mats which was nice. Greens as always were very good, especially on the raised sections of the the course as it works it’s way up the hill.
Apart from the wetness of it all (which cannot really be helped given the recent storms) the course played nicely and I will be visiting again.
Good challenge
Although the Greenwood Course was a little bit wet under foot due to recent rain the round was a joy to play in the spring sunshine. Each hole gave you a challenge, the greens were excellent and every member of staff were polite and a credit to the Club.
Unbelievable conditions and quality club house
Perfect course, challenging but great views. You wouldn’t of even guessed it had rained an hour before we went out, perfect greens whole way round. Club house also brilliant, genuinely best fish and chips I’ve ever had! Highly recommend both courses and club !
A great find
I was looking for somewhere to play on the weekend with my son. Taking full advantage of GolfNows hot deals, I found East Horton and booked for 11.40 tee time. Weather had been dry on the run up to the day and the course although obviously winter conditions was very playable. Greens were in good condition and very nice to pitch into. The course has some great holes and the 17th par 3 is a real tester with water from tee to green. We found the odd hole where we wondered where the next tee was and the score card doesn’t have a course layout, so an app on your phone might come in handy if playing for the first time. We will 100% be returning.
Will definitely be back
Thanks to a great offer through GolfNow, I got to play the Greenwood course with my son on a weekend. Staff on the reception were very friendly and explained everything we needed to know prior to starting our round. Although we played the course in January it was in good condition and the greens were very playable. The course has some awesome holes on it and the pace of play was just right. The 17th 150yd par 3 over water from tee to green is a great hole. We drove 45 mins to get to the course and would happily do it time and time again. We both came of the course very happy with our day at East Horton and can’t wait to go back.
