Still too wet
I saw a review for the 20th of Feb 2025 that said the course should have been closed.
I am generally in agreement with this.
I figured after two weeks of no rain it might have dried out a little, but I was wrong. The greens although spiked were playable, on the whole the fairways were not too bad given the time of year. However the areas around the tee boxes were awful. The back 9 were much better.
In summary wait a month assuming there’s no more rain.
When should a course say, “No, we’re closed!”
I really wanted to get a round in and I’ve played East Horton, Parkland many times. I booked on the day and was told ‘“trolleys are on.” Looking forward to my round I set off but should have given more consideration to what the weather had thrown at us over the last two days!! After the first decent tee shot - midway up the first fairway - I began to trudge/squelch and slide along a fairway where you would definitely have expected a firm footing. It got worse - almost like a paddy field, and some of the worst damage appeared to be made on the edge of the greens! The last three holes on the top of the hill were a little firmer but I regret having played and apologise for any damage caused by my trudging. I want to come back, so I wish East Horton all the best but I am saddened by the experience and have to question whether it was worth it.
Muddy first 10 holes
I was gutted as i love this club not played Parkland in a year or so and was dissapointed as it was so wet under foot on fairways and paths. Greens were in v good condition though. Will def play here again just wait for dry spell.
Swamp and muddy
The state of the range balls was definitely an indicator of what a below par experience it was gonna be . Very muddy balls and for some reason dry mud, so could not clean even these balls if you wanted to.
The parkland course, just muddy hole after hole .
There should be away to get a refund from such bad golf courses. As what is shown online direct opposite to what the actual is.
Wellies Required
Too much water , just unplayable , and unsafe even with fairway mat. Might be better in the summer but a bit of drainage investment should make the East Horton- Parkland Course fantastic even in the winter season.
Happy
Me and a friend have played here a few times, and never had any problems but we were worried about today due to overnight rain.
However, we were pleasantly surprised. Yes there were some boggy walks between holes and soft conditions in the rough but overall the fairways were fine and the greens were very good.
We had a decent Winter round for a fair price.
Very wet, but as expected
Although wet conditions I was impressed with the state of the greens. My only real gripe is the learner golfers that slow down play. I get it we all have to learn but if you can hardly hit the ball go to the range or a pitch or put. Stay off the 18 hole golf courses Also no excuse for not posting course conditions etc on their website or very least social media site.
Mr Peter Morrison
Great course being so we have had bad weather on and off for last few weeks it held up very well I will be back again very soon
Value for money
The Parkand course is a fair challenge. Also not very long. The oong par 3s are a good challenge (3rd and 8th holes)
Greens in good condition
Played this course many times in the past and this is the best condition I have ever seen the greens in.
Play is a bit slow at times so could benefit from having a course marshal.
Great course for the high handicappers but still enough to keep the better players on their toes.
Looking forward to my next round,
Rejoining
I really did enjoy the course and will rejoin in march but till then will play east Horton again next week
Top tier
Unreal club as always. Staff at front of house always great and smiling, course conditions immaculate, it really is a top tier course. Looking forward to returning many times in the future
Wet day on the Parkland course
Overall really good course especially with how inconsistent the weather has been. Greens in good condition some to the tea boxes could do with some work but considering the recent rain can’t complain. Will 100% be coming back
Poor Drainage
We arrived at the course and wondered why the course was empty. We eventually realised after only playing 4 holes. The course was unplayable as we kept slipping over on the fairways when addressing the ball. The greens themselves were kept well however, we continued to dis out our golf balls from the fairways as they were plugged in most areas.
I would not recommend this course in wet conditions. We ended our round after 4 holes and called it a day. Which is ashamed as we have enjoyed this course in dry conditions.
Drc
Should be notified green's hollow tired...grass mowings everywhere,
Course in good condition
I have played this course a few times now and you definitely need to keep to the fairways, although they had recently cut much of the rough which is savage. There are many ditches and trees to try and avoid. Course management is crucial. The greens are excellent. Very true.
It is a very popular course and as a consequence play was somewhat slow.
However, other than that I would have no problem in recommending this course and it's pleasant surroundings, and well kept, reasonably challenging holes.
