Filey Golf Club - Academy Course

An excellent course for a beginner and youngsters learning the game. The club shop staff are very friendly and accommodating also. The course is mainly Par 3s, with a few Par 4s, but it is not easy - particularly the ~200 yard Par 3s. The first hole over water is a baptism of fire to this excellent, great value gem of a course.

Nice layout and good condition greens. Tee mats not so good to use. As a beginner's course I imagine the rough in places could result in lost balls. First hole over the pond a bit intimidating. Ball finding could easily be improved if some 'weedy areas' were cut back which would not be too difficult to achieve. Overall an enjoyable play..

Beaut 9 hole course with fantastic views and well kept fairways and greens 👍

First time playing a course in ten years. Did 18 holes (2 rounds) of this stunning 9 hole course. Greens and fairways in great condition. Only negative if any, is having to play off of mats and the grass surrounding is little to non existent. But all in all great morning of golf. Looking forward to getting on the big course soon.

Enjoyed this course with my son. I’m new to the game and got to use most my clubs. First hole was a stinker with the water though

Greens were in good shape and getting about was methodical and quick. List a few balls I. The thick stuff but get ho.

We enjoyed our round of golf at this 9 hole course. It has a couple of tricky holes over the lake. It was in good condition on the day we played.

Great little 9 hole course would definitely recommend it has a couple of challenging holes but well worth the money.

Really enjoyed playing this course and although most of the 9 holes are short they're still a good test of golf .

The course is challenging and well laid out. We had a good time and finished off with a drink and a meal in the clubhouse.

The Filey Academy course is a challenging 9 hole course. We certainly enjoyed our game and the scores are getting better!!

For a academy course it was well kept with a couple off challenging holes my son especially liked the 1st and 9th both over water holes, unfortunately our 1st 9 was spoilt by a family totally holding up play filming each and every shot each family member took taking phonecalls and just really bad golf etiquette which meant our 1st 9 took over 2 hours and we ended up queuing with 2 sets off golfer's who teed off behind us for this family to eventually leave each hole, our 1nd 9 was much more enjoyable when this family had left and only took an hour and fifteen minutes. I know this isnt the fault off the course but and hasn't effected my overall score just was a bit off a sore point

After reading some of the reviews on here, I was a little dubious about booking. Pleased to say I found the course to be excellent condition and value for money! So much so, I’m playing again tomorrow! Only downside, playing off mats from the tee. Otherwise excellent throughout.
