Pleasantly surprused

On arrival, the girl in the shop told me I could tee off earlier than expected as there was space after the ladies members tee times. First couple of holes were fine until I caught up with two groups in front of me. Pace became slow for a few holes until I was eventually let through on the 11th. Holes 4-10 were cliff top and pleasing to the eye with views over the sea and Scarborough. When turning back inland I was pleasantly surprised as the course meandered its way around hills. Elevated tees, cambered fairways and tricky greens made it a tough test. 16-18 particularly tough but most enjoyable. Played well which always helps and I fully recommend anyone to have a round there.

Very enjoyable

I really like Scarborough South and wish I lived a bit nearer. I would seriously consider joining.

If the weather is kind its a nice walk.

Scarborough south shore

The course was in excellent condition when most courses I've played lately are partched due to te dry conditions.

The fairways we're green and the greens were in great condition.

All the staff are very friendly.

I'd strongly recommend playing this lovely course.

Really great course in scarborough

As a fourball we very much enjoyed the course. Both the cliff top and the in land holes were well thought out and in superb condition.

Shocking pace of play

Actually thought the course was decent but was ruined massively due to pace of play, took 80 minutes to play 3 holes. Had to walk off at 15 due to having other things booked. 4hr25 it took to play 14

Holes! Members seem pretty ruined, travelled a long way to play this course and was massively let down. Wouldn’t recommend playing due to this reason

Decent course but pace of play very poor

Good course with some nice scenic views, most of the greens in okay condition. Club house fairly old school and pro shop well stocked and friendly pro. The day was massively let down by the pace of play, though, took our 3 ball 5 hours to get round. Would’ve had a much higher rating if the pace of play wasn’t so poor.

Course great. Golf now poor.

Course excellent and company great. However, I played as a one-ball and was offered two prices on Golf Now. A hot deal for £30.99 or a normal tee time at £40. I paid the £40 as I wanted to play alone, but arrived to find I’d been put with a two ball. Nowhere on my booking was this stated or suggested. The two lads I played with were great company, but I feel overcharged by a tenner. I might as well have booked the hot deal. Very poor, Golf Now!

The greens had been well watered and had hadn’t been cut too short given the conditions - they were holding unlike other nearby courses this week however they were slow.

A tale of two halves

Had an amazing day at South cliff, weather was perfect for this type of course, really enjoyed the change after the 3rd hole to lead you onto the cliff side with great views all around, I can imagine if the wind was up then it would be very challenging. Overall definitely worth a go if you're in the area.

Average at best

Paid £55 for a weekend round (4 ball, so £220), arrived at 9am to be told the range is 'collect your own balls', the bar for a pre game coffee had no staff yet, and the half way house was shut. It was a busy mid May weekend which i thought was very poor.

The Course itself was a nice lay out, with the 7 holes on the 'links' area by far the best bit. The other holes were a little run down and the fairways were not anywhere near the price being charged. If you get a round here for £20-£25, it'll fine, but for that price I expected a lot better.

Our annual pilgrimage

Cold and windy conditions made for a challenging day in contrast to previous visits. Once again, the course was in brilliant condition and a fabulous test. our only disappointment was breakfast in the bar was very poor. Not enough to put us off going again, but we'll eat before playing next time. One of the friendliest clubs to visit.

Incredible Welcome

I booked last minute as I was in the area. I received one of the warmest welcomes ever at the pro shop.

The guy was so helpful and friendly.

The course was amazing. Great condition and fun layout.

Great sea views once you cross over the road.

I’m 13 hcp shot 11 over 👏

I also joined 2 young lads on the course and instead of playing through they ask me to join them. Great young lads and I really enjoyed my day.
