a hidden gem
on the drive down to the club house I was a bit concerned about the holes on view which were all flat and up and down. however these concerns went once we got over the road, where you are presented with 13 of the best holes I have played. Tree lined rolling fairways, tricky greens , strategical]y placed bunkers, both short and long par 4s,challenging par 3s and par 5s requiring though and power.
I have played both Woburn and Wentworth and can honestly say it compares favourably particularly when you consider the cost. This is a real hidden gem.
Great course
Great course. Interesting layout, fairways undulating. Greens good. Quite challenging as most holes tree lined and tightish. Pro shop staff surly for some reason, my playing partners agreed?
Warmest Welcome I've ever Received in a pro shop
First time playing this course. I was in the area, had my clubs in the car, so i thought why not.
I'm so glad i did, had a very warm welcome in the pro shop. It was about 3pm when I arrived and it was quiet.
The course is lovely with great sea views once you get over the road on the 4th hole.
I met 2 young lads and they allowed me to join them and I had a wonderful time.
I also shot 3 under my HCP, so bonus. 11 over total
I'll be back soon for sure, and bringing my friends.
Great course
Great course stunning views some tight holes and greens with lots of contours will play again
Lovely course 👍
I played here with my son and it’s a great golf course. We played early afternoon and were lucky enough to have no one behind or in front of us which was great.
We played on the back of 14 days without rain so we knew the course would be dry in a few places. It had a couple of winter greens but the majority was in good nick and also played true and quick.
The greeting from the pro was lukewarm and even his dog seemed unimpressed with our presence. We didn’t stay for a drink after either so it would be unfair to comment on the facilities. All of the other golfers were friendly and polite.
Would defo play here again. We have played South Cliff, Filey and surrounding golf courses and rate this a proper test. Long par 4s and tricky par 3s mean you’ve got to play well to post a score.
Course is in excellent condition
Great course with speedy play could not fault anytime at all. Will be back
Excellent course in great condition
Could not fault any aspect of the course . It’s a great layout which is extremely well maintained. Used the Pro shop for new grips and they are great as well. Will be back.
Excellent value and a true test.
This is a very friendly club, Pro was helpful as were all clubhouse staff. The views across the bay are stunning witch sets you up perfectly for the first tee. Excellent rolled acres which is a feature of Mr Braid’s signature crafting! we played this on a fairly benign day which allowed us to play within our handicaps. That said, the greens were tricky, hard to read and a true test of golf. This was excellent value for money on a well presented and historic course, one of the better ones across the north east coast. Highly recommended.
Final round of weekend
Played as a 2-ball on a championship Sunday & was warned it could be slow. It felt painful. The 4 in front literally hacked their way around (members) & we stood on almost every shot. Ironically it took less than 4 hours so can’t complain. However, they could & should have let us through & that would have made it much better. Nice track, some good holes. 2nd, 16,17,18 pretty boring up & down holes, the rest a nice undulating parkland layout. Greens in good nick, quite quick & difficult to read at times. We enjoyed South Cliff a little more, possibly the spectacular views? You can’t go wrong if you want a weekend round & play both Scarborough tracks though.
Afternoon round
Pleasant round with a long-standing member and another visitor. Course in excellent condition with scenic holes to enjoy
Would play again, no issues
Fabulous visit
The course was in excellent condition, greens were fantastic. Pro shop staff very friendly and helpful. Nice clubhouse and stunning views over the beach and castle from the outdoor seating area. Very enjoyable visit.
