Cracking little course
Course was a bit wet under foot in places but was an enjoyable round for £10 - good greens, some shared but big enough that it didn’t matter.
Club house was closed but the members we spoke to were helpful and friendly
Will definitely play again
Very hilly, wet underfoot.
Good points.
Beautiful scenery.
Quiet.
Hidden away.
Not so good.
Very hilly, tough for the more mature golfer.
Very wet underfoot.
"Clubhouse" (it's a hut) not manned.
No facilities, you need to drive down to Greenhead for eats and drinks.
Great Value, Lovely Views, Brilliant Course
Really enjoyable course to play, nice and quiet, challenging and fun for all handicaps.
Quite often you’ll barely see anyone else on the course which is hard to understand when it’s such great value.
Only drawback is if it’s been pretty wet the course will be sitting soaked but that’s just nature of the beast due to its location and type of ground so totally understandable and acceptable. But when the sun is shining it’s perfect.
Unbelievable value
Fantastic little course, tucked out of the way. There are more than a few challenging holes (and as many challenging hills to climb!).
Greens were a little on the long side, and no bunkers, but the latter probably saved our scores from being higher.
Would thoroughly recommend, especially for the price!
Fab fun
Great course, great value, many unique holes, scenery an added bonus
Unknown Gem
This is an absolute gem of a course. At only £10 a round midweek and £15 on a weekend it's significantly cheaper than other local courses Brampton and Hexham for a course which is equally as enjoyable. You'd expect poor conditions for a course so cheap but its exceptionally well maintained. Some great holes, especially the 18th! A number of challenging holes but a great score can be made. Would highly recommend to all.
Haltwhistle non event
Unfortunately due to thunder and rain I was unable to play.
Bonum cursum!
Unfortunately the weather was quite bleak with persistent drizzle for our round. However, the course has a unique and interesting undulating layout and provides a decent challenge with some good views out across the hills. Course maintenance is old school and in our opinion is all the better for it as it provides a refreshing break from some of the over manicured (and over priced) courses elsewhere. The only aspect that might put some people off is the absence of flashy facilities but we found it to be more than adequate and will definitely be back.
A beautiful challenge.
Very beautiful scenic course with great views and wildlife abundant along with nice challenging holes.
Excellent Course
Haltwhistle Golf Club enjoys magnificent views of the South Tyne Valley and is probably, the most scenic and historically interesting course in Britain. It is the only golf club on both Hadrian's Wall footpath and the Pennine Way. The course offers excellent views; East to Haltwhistle and beyond; North to Spadeadam and West to Gilsland and Brampton. The area is steeped in history, with Thirlwall Castle on the doorstep, the remains of Hadrian's Wall crossing the golf course and where tales of the Romans and Border Reivers abound. Spadeadam was noted for the development of the Blue Streak missile. The small town of Haltwhistle is close by with its many amenities and boasts the title of the "Centre of Britain"
