Great course, currently undergoing improvements works
Course was in very good condition for a municipal. Greens were smooth and fast. The bunkers are under going improvements it seems. A lot had been dug out or filled in and we actually seen the digger out on course working on them. Course in a lot better condition than when I played last year. Excellent value for money with great views of the hills on one side and Manchester on the other. It is a physical test though, so be prepared to walk up and down a lot of hills. Also has a temporary layout due to an issue with a bridge. Is it a tour level course? No. But it seems to be improving and offers tremendous value.
Great course
Excellent course enjoy playing here can't understand people pulling it down its not and will never be a pga tour course but its an honest course and always open great layout and the course can't be blamed for slow players in front of them I go early and never have a problem one of my favourite courses
Avoid avoid avoid
My dad and me played this course some 20 odd years ago and as we were in the area thought we'd play again for old times sake. Unfortunately we were far from impressed. Don't get me wrong there are some very picturesque and challenging holes, if only you could find any grass on the tee boxes to actually tee off from. Then the pace of play was absolutely ridiculous, we were stuck behind a couple of four balls who didn't even consider allowing us to play through even though they spent the majority of their rounds looking for each other's balls in the trees! The greens in fairness were ok, although there was quite a bit of debris on a few of them. The bunkers are there but youll be lucky to find any sand in them, there are rakes in there but i think they might be for the hundreds of weeds that are residing in them! Maybe they took all the sand out to fill the new beach feature they have for the kids in the park? There was a whole hole missing that none of the reception staff thought to mention to us, we spent about 10 minutes looking for the 15th hole which when the group behind us caught us up and told us there wasn't currently a 15th at least it gave the slow four ball ahead of us chance to get a hole ahead of us for the 1st time. There was far more negatives than positives and if I could actually be bothered to list them all I'd probably be here all night. Honestly, if your in the area and fancying a round, try one of the many other courses within a 4 or 5 mile radius instead.
Ok for a municipal
Played here a couple of times last year and I was really impressed with how well the course was kept, was quite disappointed this time. Tea boxes were a mess, bunkers were non-existent should’ve been GUR but we’re not, was like hitting off gravel path and greens were covered in weeds, holes not cut straight
Such a shame as the course itself layout wise has some really great holes,it just hasn’t been maintained properly at all this year. Shame as last year it was in pretty good nick to say it is a municipal golf course.
Interesting local gem
Hilly and testing municipal course with some interesting and stunning holes. With a bit of extra care the course could be amazing but given the price you can’t complain. Decent amenities as well. Always enjoy playing the course.
Great local course
If you're in or around North Manchester & you're looking to get into golf or want a great turn-up & play course; this is it. The course has looked phenomenal this year, better than it's ever looked. The bridge on 15th is still being re-built so the 14th is a temporary hole. Great views of Manchester all around. Does wonders for your calf muscles if you're walking it. Legs like tree trunks afterwards. Pitch & putt is always great too if you don't have much time that day. Free parking for golfers, just put your reg down in the book.
Was ok for a knock
Greens were well kept. Bunkers were poor. Fairways were ok but some area they appear to have struggled to cut.
Heaton park
Good greens and fairways in good condition
Not very clear/signage route around the course missed the 14th hole
Hot Sunday of hilly golf
Not played the course for 20 years.
Forgot how hilly it was, recommend a buggy really if warm once a year😄,
Overall pace was quite slow 4.5 hours although a 4 ball let us through, one didn’t for last few 4 holes.
Greens a little slow but had played on really fast ones 2 days before.
Some complication around hole 15 not just us but also group behind.
Hard course to play lots of balls needed if not straight, many blind shots which is awkward if you haven’t played the course before hence buggy might help to go and see what you are playing.
Overall a fun day in the sun.
Hilly course with small greens
Played on Father’s Day. Very busy, so pace of play was slow. Very welcoming and friendly by staff and fellow golfers.
Really nice rolling course, only £22 for a 10.24am tee time at the weekend. It’s rolling/hilly blind tee shots. The scorecard and good enough pictures of the layout to navigate.
It’s not an easy walk, so my playing partner got a buggy which they recommend booking in advance.
Look forward to going back 🏌️♂️
Has potential but needs some serious investment
The course is extremely hilly for a start. Wouldn’t be an issues if they had enough buggies available but walking with a bag or pulling a trolley is a slog. We had a relatively fit 75 year old with us and he couldn’t play some holes due to the terrain. Not sure what they have done with the course recently with holes 15-17 but it was a total confusion of which green was which and none of the apps recognised the layout and there were golf balls and golfers flying everywhere choosing wrong hole. More signage on tea boxes required. The negatives out of the way it has huge potential as the views are amazing and there are some real challenging and picturesque holes. It was actually value for money but being a low funded municipal I guess we got what was expected but such a shame as with investment it would a great course. Not for the unfit!
Hilly Place
Very hilly, fairways good condition but just off then get to hacking 😁, confusing hole layout on final stretch, not too bad for £14 but buggy defo required especially on ☀️ day.
Not a bad course at all
Played here as a 3 ball, the course was in good condition, fairways were cut short and rolled out well. Some tricky holes all round with varying elevations of tee boxes. 18th hole is a bit confusing to find as they have recently had a change around
Will be returning to play again. Not a bad price either
Best bang for your buck
For £16 it’s hands down the best value round of golf in Manchester.
Fairways, tee boxes, greens all very decent. A couple a bit bobbly but we’ve had a lot of rain and the course is playing great.
Bear in mind Bury is £35 a round.
Heaton Park is £16 a round.
Heaton Park is better imho with more challenges.
Super value.
Considering how wet it has been
Considering how wet it has been the greens were in great condition. The fairways are very wet in places but that is to be expected . The general layout is very good but some of the holes (11th especially) are spectacular.
One point is they had moved the last 6 holes around which made my gps useless and had to guess the distance's.
Not the best
This course is very hill about 9 of the holes I was playing blind but it was a course I did enjoy but wouldn’t go again. I think the course needs alot of TLC very boggy in places and the course lay out is confusing 5/10
First time
Was a good course
Unfortunately I played when they are renovating the hole layout for the last few holes
So will have to come back once finished in June
