Golfer Reviews
Challenging public course
First of all, it is a wise choice to rent a buggy especially after raining. Path is very muddy and wet. Also it is a hilly course which need much extra energy for pulling a trolley . Apart from that, I would say it is a great course with different lay outs and many long distance par 4. It is absolutely huge challenge for a new golfer.
I have offered myself 2nd chance to visit the course few days later but this time I have applied for a golf cart in advance. 😜
Better than I expected
I had been told it was like a mountain goat course! Yes there are lots of ups and downs but that makes it interesting and challenging. You certainly need to be able to hit a ball, lots of my friends would struggle with som off the clearance’s as woman don’t hit huge ball. The tee boxes were in poor condition but the greens were great. The rough is long and my a dive is keep out. Really enjoyed our afternoon, sadly you have to pay for B parking as well.
Undulating Course
Enjoyed playing Heaton Park for the first time with 4 friends. Despite the weather we all enjoyed the round of golf. No holes the same, very undulating but a good challenge. Will come again.
Great condition especially considering the weather
Been playing regularly for around a year and it's only got better. It's been playing particularly well lately considering the very wet weather! Interesting layout, some tough holes (15!) and always friendly and welcoming staff!
Great day!
My brothers and me played for the first time at Heaton Park on Sat all at different levels of play, and as a beginner I really enjoyed the course even though it is hilly as everyone says the views and great holes make for a great day. Even though it was busy at the cafe booking office the girls were friendly and helpfully to anyone who needed assistance. We will definitely be back and may even bring my daughter and wife to try the par3 pitch and putt!
Heaton park golf course
I think for the price this course is one of the best I’ve played. Each hole has its own individual feature.
Great Municipal Course
Challenging course, plenty of hills and blind shots with some excellent views across Manchester. Great price compared to other courses and great for beginners and the complete opposite of an uptight snobby golf club. Bacon butty and a pint after the round - jobs a goodun
Challenging
Very hilly course with ravines to negotiate. Some blind holes. Definitely need to be fit to walk the course. Need an electric trolley. Greens were slow and bumpy, reflecting the winter and wet spring. Parking a nightmare. It is sign posted but when you turn in, you enter a public pay and display car park. There were no empty spaces. Apparently, if you can find a space, don’t buy a ticket but instead inform the clubhouse. They will note your car number in a book. If the car park is full, inform the clubhouse and they will open a gate for additional free parking
Hills are ridiculous.
Can't see a single green, always playing blind!
Poor condition but you can’t help but like it
It’s been a long time since I last played here and I always remember it being a great test.
Firstly the down side, it’s not in great nick ( see pics), the pace of play is awful and it’s a health and safety nightmare. There are easily 7 or 8 blind tee shots and I only saw one bell for letting the group behind know you have cleared. I spent most of the round worrying about getting clattered by a ball from the group behind.
That said, in a bizarre way we still enjoyed it. There really are some great holes and some lovely views . Worth a visit just for the experience but don’t expect too much.
Fantastic Greens
The staff are really friendly. Did walk the wrong way to next hole a couple of times though. Thanks to my app, I found the next hole.
The greens are rally nice to play on and are fairly quick.
17th is fun/frustrating.
I'll definitely be back in the summer.
Heaton park offers a wide variety of hole configurations. It will
Test golfers of any ability. Without a doubt the signature hole on the course is the par 3 eleventh, this hole could adorn any course in the world!!!!!!
Great Course
After not playing for 10 years or so (wasn’t great back then) I thought this course would be great for a start back into the game as I sort of knew the layout. For anyone that hasn’t been, be prepared for a hilly course. Played as a single at 9am and I have no issue waiting for people. The only issue is knowing when the group ahead are either far enough away or finished on the first 5 holes due to hills.
Highly recommend even to beginners.
Great winter conditions
Course seemed to have good drainage even after a night of heavy rainfall. Greens still solid and rough areas were clear and easy to find balls in.
