Challenging

Very hilly course with ravines to negotiate. Some blind holes. Definitely need to be fit to walk the course. Need an electric trolley. Greens were slow and bumpy, reflecting the winter and wet spring. Parking a nightmare. It is sign posted but when you turn in, you enter a public pay and display car park. There were no empty spaces. Apparently, if you can find a space, don’t buy a ticket but instead inform the clubhouse. They will note your car number in a book. If the car park is full, inform the clubhouse and they will open a gate for additional free parking

Hills are ridiculous.

Can't see a single green, always playing blind!

Poor condition but you can’t help but like it

It’s been a long time since I last played here and I always remember it being a great test.

Firstly the down side, it’s not in great nick ( see pics), the pace of play is awful and it’s a health and safety nightmare. There are easily 7 or 8 blind tee shots and I only saw one bell for letting the group behind know you have cleared. I spent most of the round worrying about getting clattered by a ball from the group behind.

That said, in a bizarre way we still enjoyed it. There really are some great holes and some lovely views . Worth a visit just for the experience but don’t expect too much.

Fantastic Greens

The staff are really friendly. Did walk the wrong way to next hole a couple of times though. Thanks to my app, I found the next hole.

The greens are rally nice to play on and are fairly quick.

17th is fun/frustrating.

I'll definitely be back in the summer.

Heaton park offers a wide variety of hole configurations. It will

Test golfers of any ability. Without a doubt the signature hole on the course is the par 3 eleventh, this hole could adorn any course in the world!!!!!!

Great Course

After not playing for 10 years or so (wasn’t great back then) I thought this course would be great for a start back into the game as I sort of knew the layout. For anyone that hasn’t been, be prepared for a hilly course. Played as a single at 9am and I have no issue waiting for people. The only issue is knowing when the group ahead are either far enough away or finished on the first 5 holes due to hills.

Highly recommend even to beginners.

Great winter conditions

Course seemed to have good drainage even after a night of heavy rainfall. Greens still solid and rough areas were clear and easy to find balls in.

Should not be open

The course was completed unplayable. Every group that left the club house didn’t get further than the 2nd hole. Unfortunately the ice was too thick and treacherous under foot. It simply shouldn’t be open.

Any other time this place is great.

Hard work

Overall enjoyed my round but due to course layout was very difficult to get round only due to how hilly the course itself was.

To much foot traffic !!

The amount of traffic through the course is unbelievable so many family’s and dogs walking across fairways when teeing off. Not to mention picking balls up as the go even balls in fairways! Three times I had my ball taken from the fairways by kids with family’s! I will not visit this course again

Needs some attention

The greens need a looking at, a lot of cracked and bold patches, tee beds are shocking, the layout is fine just needs bringing back upto scratch.

Good course let down by poor pace of play

2 years since we last played here and won't be rushing back. Purely because of rediculous slow pace of play making what should and could be a far better experience. Infuriatingly frustrating. Waiting on tees. 2 ball in front of us was far too slow failing to keep up with the 4 ball in front of them who weren't keeping up with group in front of them.
