Last minute lucky book
Turned up at pike fold as I had dropped wife off for knee surgery had to kill the morning, course is about 5 mins off m60 or m66 as you drive in on a meandering drive after crossing the m66 to access course lovely views to your left of the 18th green in front of the club House.
The facilities has a chipping/pitching green 2mins walk back down road on left, and a grassed area 20yds from 1st tee for those 150yd warm ups.
The course would describe it as a well maintained parkland with lushes fairways overlooking the Lancashire hills to the north for a par 71 plenty of challenges for mid to high handicaps as most greens are protected by well placed bunkers as are quite a few of the tee shots first cut just about right fluffy but you an get out with a good shot, bunkers well maintained and raked, greens rolled nice but a good read is required as some are big and undulating.
All in all a very pleasent morning spent with new friend Ian, Frank and Martin who where kind enough to allow me the pleasure and their knowledge of the course helped me to shoot a respectable net 72 after a triple bogey start! Watch out for the bunkers off the tee on the right and then the ones just short of the green on a par 5 start. If you can travel to Bury a must try for the price.
Second time playing here and it didnt disappoint again. Course was in excellent condition again. Greens were true and fast. Amazing value for money
Probly one of the best courses I've played this year for the money I paid for the round very good value course is in excellent condition
First time playing here and i was very impressed, the greens were in excellent condition and although we have had lots of sun the course still remained green but did run fast. I wish i could have gotten there earlier(stuck in traffic) as the putting green was excellent and a true representation of the course greens. I will definitely play here again. Only one bad thing is there isnt a great deal of directions between holes, we guessed which way to go after the 3rd and luckily it was the right way.
Excellent course. Greens in great condition. Good amount of water and hazards to keep you on your toes. Anything on the outside of the 2nd cut is punished with severe rough.
A nice course to play, a few undulations with a good layout.
course in very good condition, greens had a nice roll when putting.
Enjoyable round of golf
Don’t tell em your name pike
I shouldn’t ,but I will tell you about this amazing course .
I played in rain and a thunder and lightning storm and hail , but underneath all that you could still tell what a great layout the course is.
Hidden bunkers for the long hitters and well guarded greens
And the greens are the best I’ve played on for a few years , pick your line and it won’t disappoint a true run on the ball
Amazingly well kept , big up for the green staff
I only hope that the £20 I payed is available all year for those in a budget after 4 pm tee offs
Can’t wait to play again
Amazing value for money ..A real hidden gem this course
Best I’ve played on in north west
This course is glorious in the sun
Played this course a handful of times now and it never disappoints. Latest visit in glorious sunshine showed its fairways and greens in their full glory. Lovely touch with a marquee acting as the 19th hole outside the clubhouse. Quite simply a must visit.
Great course great price
Such good value for money with some really lovely and challenging holes. Highly recommended course
