Heworth GC

No Pro shop here.. you need to fill in a slip next the locker room. Car parking is limited and the neighbours are anti golf according to some people I spoke with. I had a dog walker trying to advise me on where to park. The course I believe has been changed/extended to a 18 hole. A few holes are played off the same tee box which I’m not a big fan of.. fairly quiet when I played.. some waiting as fairways crossed.. a bit pricey for me considering the nature of the course.

Great inner city course

The greens were in good condition. The fairways are tight, and the differing tee shots for the second 9 make things interesting. We will be coming back

Worth a visit

Was just looking for a course at the low end of the budget range in the York area and Heworth more than delivered for value for money.

There was literally no one else on the golf course which made it feel pretty special for my son and I. A tree lined course which was nicely prepared and a testing layout albeit quite short.

Shooting a gross 71(+1) helped to form my positive review but even if I’d had a nightmare, like I often do, it would very difficult to criticise this place. Lots of choice in the area but you could do a lot worse than playing at Heworth, very enjoyable.

Interesting

Piece of play is slightly held up with shared greens and shared tees. However, if you know this then this should not be an issue before you play. Speed of greens was very slow. Not withstanding a great way to pass some time and exceptional value for money. Just some feedback for the course, please can you get the markers set up on the my e.g. app.

Value for money within walking distance of the City walls

Pleasant parkland course with generous fairways and good greens. It's not a genuine 18 but works well with the use of different tees. Excellent value for money and the staff were very helpful and Welcoming.

Confusing course but can’t complain too much

Shared fairways really slows the game down. Read a few things about the course being in bad condition which is far from the truth! If you can’t find the 10th hole, head towards the car park and cross the road, it’s there..

Very disappointed

Travelled 1.5 hours to play this course .

States 18 hole course this was not the case 1,2 10 and 11 have there own green the rest of the holes share a green . Just change the tee off .

Very slow play , no staff around to check you in . We could have just turned up off the street .Fairways not the best but greens all good .Some of the members were lovely and told us which way to go for the next tee .

Sorry wouldn’t play there again .

Slow play

The course layout was terrible. To many holes sharing tee boxes. Also lots of weeds / leaves covering fairways . Disappointed

Not the best time to play

Course still very wet in places some off fairway grass very high and in places had extra grass cuttings dumped on it. I've played course when in much better condition. Was certainly not worth the £25 fee at this condition.

Great Course

I love playing Heworth. I’m a member at Brickendon Grange GC outside Hertford, Hertfordshire but visit York 2 or 3 times each month and so I play Heworth a lot. In summer it’s a fabulous course but in winter, like yesterday, it’s too wet. I appreciate they strive to give members golf but there are times when it should be closed. I can’t really be negative about the course mind you as it’s generally in lovely condition and the members and staff are super friendly.
