Great greens, Slow play

Overall the course was in very good condition the greens were a highlight. Unfortunately we got behind 6 non golfers who were visitors with zero thought for anyone behind them. We complained to the pro and he offered us 50% discount on our next visit, I understand this is not entirely the clubs fault but maybe handicap limits would help.

This however has not put me off visiting again as we enjoyed the course.

Nice course

Hillsborough is a nice course which I played at the wrong time. They are obviously conditioning the greens with the large amount of sand on them so the greens are a bit poor. The fairways, tee boxes etc are all very good however, it plays very well with some easy and difficult holes. I would recommend playing there and if I stay in this area consider becoming a member. Also the staff are very welcoming and informative.

Great course

Really good course. Good variety of holes in rural setting. Tight in places but not overly so and plenty of fairway to aim at. Greens fast and true, only slight issue was that greens had been spiked and sanded but only to be expected at this time of year. Recommend this course and a steal at price we paid.

Great food in bar!

All fur coat

My playing partners and I have played this course several times between us and I can honestly say its been nothing but poor.

The biggest problem with the club is it's arrogant, rude and big time Charlie memebers that have a total disregard for other players (non memebers)

It looks like memebers can just do what they want when playing a round, basic course rules are overlooked and the speed of play can only be compared to the pace of a giant Galapagos tortoise. Before you google it, that's 0.3 mph.

Such a shame this course is like this, as it's my local course and I along with 3 of my playing partners have been considering becoming memebers. This experience has put the final nail in the coffin and just like the members I won't be in a rush....... to return.

Poor set up

After arriving 30 minutes before our tee time we were made to wait over an hour due to a comp being on. This meant we could only play 15 holes after literally running round. A little poor

wont play here friday morning again

was booked to play at 11 40 however, there were 5 fourballs on the first tee at that time & we had to walk to 11th to start! consequentially we only managed 15 holes very disappointed with the discourteousness of these members not letting us go on time!!

Excellent day

We were looking forward to playing this course for the first time but the weather was raining as we teed off. However the weather didn't make the course unplayable and with all the rain we have had the course was still in very good condition. The fairways from the tee were narrow and didn't allow for stray shots. The greens and fairways were in excellent condition and despite the rain we had an excellent round definitely play again.

Sheffield's hidden gem.

Played golf in Sheffield for the last 20 years but never played Hillsboro . I'm a member at Dore and Totley, and my pal's a member at Lees Hall, we were one apiece and needed somewhere for a decider. So there we were on a beautiful September afternoon at said course.

In short, it was superb, played a bit like a Scottish course , with the shortish ,tricky par 4's(apart from the first which is monster !, tough but fair par 3's and some great par 5's that needed a bit of thought. There Was plenty of heather, also ,for that Scottish touch.

To summarise , a fantastic course that you should give a try. I'll be back!
