Golfer Reviews
Improving but still a way to go
This is a lovely course with some really challenging holes. It’s such a shame that the condition of the course has suffered over the last few years.
That being said, the condition of the course has improved since last time I played a few months ago. Some of the greens are still substandard but you can see that improvement is being made.
Staff are great and green fees are reasonable.
Shocking greens
Expensive at £30 each for greens is such terrible condition.
The Grange
Very warm welcome when playing this course. Staff were very helpful and customer care excellent.
The course was challenging as expected due to the weather conditions with some greens clearly cracking but overall enjoyed the round and will be booking again soon.
Overpriced and really poor conditions
The course isn’t well maintained at all and charging £30 is a robbery. Tee boxes are awful you can’t even get a tee in the ground they are basically dust. Greens are patchy and have holes everywhere. Don’t bother reading your putt. Fairways are understandable in the dry weather so no issues there. Bunkers I wouldn’t even bother, protect your clubs.
Challenging course with great views.
Not played the Grange for about 10 years as it has had problems and lack of investment.
Enjoyed our round of golf but the course still has major issues with the bunkers - weeds growing and lack of sand in most of them.
Greens in poor condition compared with other courses in the area.
Course still needs a lot of work to get it back to the condition it used to be.
Hardest first tee shot in golf
I’ve not played the grange for over 10 years. After all the sun and hot weather the course still played well the green were ok and all of a similar pace.
There are some lovely interesting holes on the back nine. Unfortunately the front nine was out of action due to a watering issue that has now been resolved. So unfortunately we did not get to play the first and face that terrifying first drive.
The only issue was the bunkers were almost unplayable. The bunker to the left of the eighteenth green has almost no sand rock hard base and high front wall making a sand iron shot impossible.
mixed thoughts
Arrived for an early tee off, the course itself has so much potential with the right investment, great views on some holes but bunkers and greens we’re well below par than the standard,, some had big cracks not filled n odd divots not repaired, the layout is decent and staff we’re nice and friendly, with a big screen on to have a pint with after, just a shame on the greens standard for my visit, but would return if the greens improved in the future
A good day out
Good value and not overcrowded.
Rough was challenging, and straight hitting off the tee was essential.
The scorecard was useless as it was printed in a font that was too small to read. They may have an affiliation with Specsavers!
A two ball, we got round in 3 1/2 hrs with some ball searching.
Really enjoyed it me and my son .we were met in the carpark told to check in at the office then the ladies on the golf cart got people off on time which kept the pace of golf moving all the time we will be coming back again soon
Course could be great
The overall state of the course wasn’t great. The fairways were in need of a cut, the greens and bunkers weren’t great either. The course had plenty of features and to be honest this could be a great course. I enjoyed having to think about my shots due to the features of the course. It was quite sad to see a course that could be so good in such a sorry state. I understand the costs associated with doing this. I would have loved to have played this in its prime. Hope it gets better as the staff were great.
Tee boxes were abit long but overall well worth the price
Good value
Staff welcoming and friendly. Although the course is not 100% just yet, you can see the work thats going into it. It is well laid out and has some great holes.
I will definitely be returning, as I can see it getting better.
Boggy
Very hilly course not for old folk or people who carry bag really although it’s probably as easy on the body as course was super boggy which yes it’s end of winter but still under foot sometimes treacherous two young lads I played with today fell over and were covered all up one side in mud funny but not if you were them also they were losing balls as landing in mud and plugging even on main fairway you could lose a ball so frustrating and I’m 60 and the walk is brutal up first few then last 3
