Winter round at houghton
Suprised how good. Condition course in for time of year . Always a challenging course really enjoyed it . Definitely play the course again
Great course layout
All three of us had a great day at Houghton. Really appreciate the warm welcome and the course was in good condition especially considering the weather around Co. Durham lately.
Good hill walk
Teed off 30 minutes after some groups playing a Texas Scramble and caught them up on 4th - had plenty of time to look at scenery as a result. Course was in good nick. Grass on some tee boxes was a little long but probably a deliberate decision to protect them given the dry conditions. A couple of tee boxes are quite close to greens so be alert. Noticed that it was mostly members who did not ring the bell when required to do so on a couple of holes
Nice track
Course played well. Good condition. Not a fan of holes being pre set on the greens and covered. Just create a new hole when needed?
We received a great welcome from the pro in the shop and briefed us on facilities and course etc.
Service in the bar afterwards was the polar opposite. Never been served by such a miserable person who has absolutely zero customer service skills. If this was my club I'd be embarrassed to take people into the bar afterwards based on the bar manager.
Well kept course at a bargain price
We’ve been trying to get a slot on Houghton Le Spring for a few weeks and it was worth the wait. Course was in great condition.
Miserable members
For me this course is only good in the height of the summer. Very wet and sloppy through the winter and this is evidential through the spring. Miserable members can't even bring themselves to say hello
Nice and dry
Course very dry compared to others in the area.
Tee boxes well forward and signature hole 8th spoiled by having tee box halfway down the hill.
Course is great but staff are not.
This course is great, but being told to speed up because the county competition was on and catching up ( they weren’t) they were about 4 holes behind us and there was a 4ball directly behind us anyway, from then on we had a member of staff in a golf cart watching us in the distance, totally spoiled the day and won’t be going back. If you have a county competition on then you shouldn’t let other people book to play if your worried about it.
Great condition
Great condition, great course, not enough signage for direction to next holes, only 3 par 3s and 3 par 5s tho..
Green are well maintained and fast
Course has a nice practice area with six holes with artificial greens. Staff is friendly and i had good welcoming. Course is nice maintained. It gives satisfaction to beginners and advanced players, I would really recommend this golf course.
Best Greens this season
Overall a great day out. The greens were the best this season and that includes Close House and Ramside in comparison
Fantastic course
Very well kept challenging course. Great green conditions, challenging but very true.
I think probably one of the best courses I’ve played in the north east.
Excellent test
Course was in great condition with superb greens
It’s a good test as you need to be straight with your driver off many tees otherwise OB waits
The 8 th is a beautiful long down par 3
