cheap and cheerfull
very up and down course some really difficult tee shots aswell for the short hitter. Bunkers were shocking state fairways in good nick and greens patchy but play fairly true overall worth the price and expect it would be better condition if not for the lockdown.
Lack of maintenance
I was quite surprised and shocked at the state of the course bearing in mind the amazing weather and lack of people playing it over the last 7/8 weeks , greens were visibly tired , slow and not maintained , the fairways wernt to bad but not great .
Nobody there at all , no scoring cards anywhere and to be honest we could have just turned up and played and not paid online .
Ive played this course quite a few times and i hope its just down to the circumstances in the world today as why it was the way it was .
Dog leg after dog leg
Good value for money and course in good condition. Biggest problem is that pretty much every shot is blind, either a dog leg or to a green way above or below where you are stood. Can’t complain too much for £12!
First & probably last
I know it is winter but conditions aren't right to be playing on this course.
Arrived, took 3 doors to find the bar to check in.
Told at 4pm gate is locked regardless and will be stuck on site which is useful info.
Told cards on the side, grabbed some and ended up being 9 not 18 hole.
By the third a couple more we allowed through stated they picked from both piles of cards and they are both 9 holes.
Forst 4 holes were a little boggy but fun and the the course got hilly which with a cart became slippery and hard work,
Suggest a half set and stang bag to play here as I only hit 5 clubs all round. At the 9th card says par3 app said par 4.
We went with app and turned out well but after that the poorly signposted tees, and hidden greens left us abandoning the 12th as we didn't know which green we were hitting into and after yet more hills and poorly maintained paths on the 16th we just gave up. The couple that we let through did not see the back nine out.
The fairways were so boggy we lost a half dozen balls to plugged tee shots and second shots.
I am sure in the summer this is not a problem but the course layout and lack of direction is just poor.
Spoiled by slow play
Lovely, picturesque course with some great holes, especially the par 3's. Really enjoyed the course but our day was spoiled by some incredibly slow play by a couple of 4 balls who must have been playing for the town clock. On several occasions there were 3 groups waiting on tees and not once was there the offer to play through. Not acceptable! Bitter, sweet experience.
What a fantastic, well maintained course. Only paid £15 for the round, fantastic value.
Escapism
My dad visited from the south and I wanted to find somewhere we could both completely relax and leisurely enjoy our round. It was perfect in this sense, we had no one following us for a couple of holes.
Also a good balance of challenging holes and some easier with wide fairways.
We absolutely loved the course and will return.
Winter work on course paying off.
Played at Little Lakes a few times over the past few months. Greenkeepers did a lot of work in the winter on drainage etc and it has really paid off. Greens and fairways in excellent condition. Greens a little slower than my home course but true. I played on a quiet afternoon and the pace of play was quick enough.
well worth a visit ,i would highly recommend this course every hole is challenging to a 14 handicapper like me greens were in great condition for november
Great fun
This was my second time playing at Little Lakes. The course offers some really interesting holes off elevated tees, over ravines etc. There was a course marshal who asked some slow players (newbies who probably didn't know better) to let us through which meant we could get on with our game. I will definitely look to play at Little Lakes again soon.
poor condition of the greens
I have been a regular visitor to Little Lakes for many many years and I have not seen the greens in such a poor state most of the greens are almost impossible to putt on I accept the conditions of late re-weather have been far from the norm but I'm sure the state of the greens are not solely due to the weather.
As a great fan of Little Lakes I am sorry to say I can't see anytime soon that the greens will recover.
Very dry for a number of weeks. So many greens had bare patches.
A tough course let down by the greens
I appreciate that the weather has been very hot but in the previous few days I had played other courses with near perfect greens. These were bare in places, lush in places, with holes in places were animals (possibly) had dug into them. The ball pace was therefore inconsistent and random. It's a tough course especially when the yellow tees are right at the back with the whites.
Great course layout in beautiful setting.
Have played Little Lakes on numerous occasions and it once again proved challenging.
Following recent good weather the fairways were cut beautifully and ball ran a long way. Anything hit offline though was punished as the fairway edge was quite overgrown. Some of the greens showed signs of wear but overhaul they played true.
Fantastic value for money using tee off times hot deal on a course with exceptional views.
Absolute bargain.
Plated at Little Lakes before and the value for money remains exceptional. Nice welcome, changing rooms sparse and need some TLC.
Course conditions relatively good for end of October. Greens in much better condition compared to last time I played. Course empty in the late morning mid-week!!! A bit hilly in places.
It looks as if money is being spent on the off course facilities. Will play again.
Amazing
Fantastic course, very hilly and tough, fantastic views and course is in amazing condition
Course in great condition
I played in a 2 ball, teeing off at 130pm on a Bank holiday Monday. A well laid out, challenging course. The greens were in excellent condition. Pace of play was great. Might book a buggy next visit due to the hilly terrain! Friendly staff and a nice bar and beer terrace.
