Beautiful, shame about the rain
Booked a morning tee time, unfortunately it rained all round. I played on despite this fact. I was completely wet through. I broke 100 which given the weather I thought was pretty decent. The course is beautiful.. full of character. The fairways and green are well looked after.. however some of the pin positions were very difficult.. and some greens are a bit on the small size. The holes and the views are stunning.. can’t wait to play it in the dry!
A good golf course
Little Lakes golf course provides a lovely setting and a course that would test any golfer.
Thoroughly enjoyed playing the course and will be back again soon.
Thoroughly enjoyable
Booked on line night before, got the tee time I wanted at an excellent price, easy booking process.
Arrival at the course is a bit confusing due to coved rules but not an issue, just keep left and go to the bar.
We found the course very interesting with varied holes and some challenging lies even from the fairways. It is not the longest but poses some nice challenges, one of the group was a relative beginner and lost a few in the trees but the course was not too difficult. Greens ran true but were a little on the slow side, probably better earlier in the day. The course was well kept, can’t comment on the bunkers, managed to miss them all.
The round was well paced, got round in well under 4 hours.
The round was great value for money and I will return.
Great Course
First time playing a full 18 and it was a great course to get me started, friendly staff and a nice easy layout.
Tough hilly course
This course as far as I know doesn't have a pro so you just speak to someone in the bar who wasn't the most friendliest and could only give us one scorecard.
The course is quite nice but hilly so would recommend an electric trolley or buggey. Greens good and most tees good.
Challenging course for a mid handicapper.
A varied and interesting course
Little Lakes is a varied and interesting course, set in a beautiful landscape.
The course is in an excellent condition, with just a few greens that are a little patchy..
I have had no problems booking the tee-off times I required and very pleased with the very reasonable price for a round..
Awesome course
Great little course hidden away. Variety of holes and challenging in the right way.
cheap and cheerfull
very up and down course some really difficult tee shots aswell for the short hitter. Bunkers were shocking state fairways in good nick and greens patchy but play fairly true overall worth the price and expect it would be better condition if not for the lockdown.
Lack of maintenance
I was quite surprised and shocked at the state of the course bearing in mind the amazing weather and lack of people playing it over the last 7/8 weeks , greens were visibly tired , slow and not maintained , the fairways wernt to bad but not great .
Nobody there at all , no scoring cards anywhere and to be honest we could have just turned up and played and not paid online .
Ive played this course quite a few times and i hope its just down to the circumstances in the world today as why it was the way it was .
Dog leg after dog leg
Good value for money and course in good condition. Biggest problem is that pretty much every shot is blind, either a dog leg or to a green way above or below where you are stood. Can’t complain too much for £12!
First & probably last
I know it is winter but conditions aren't right to be playing on this course.
Arrived, took 3 doors to find the bar to check in.
Told at 4pm gate is locked regardless and will be stuck on site which is useful info.
Told cards on the side, grabbed some and ended up being 9 not 18 hole.
By the third a couple more we allowed through stated they picked from both piles of cards and they are both 9 holes.
Forst 4 holes were a little boggy but fun and the the course got hilly which with a cart became slippery and hard work,
Suggest a half set and stang bag to play here as I only hit 5 clubs all round. At the 9th card says par3 app said par 4.
We went with app and turned out well but after that the poorly signposted tees, and hidden greens left us abandoning the 12th as we didn't know which green we were hitting into and after yet more hills and poorly maintained paths on the 16th we just gave up. The couple that we let through did not see the back nine out.
The fairways were so boggy we lost a half dozen balls to plugged tee shots and second shots.
I am sure in the summer this is not a problem but the course layout and lack of direction is just poor.
Spoiled by slow play
Lovely, picturesque course with some great holes, especially the par 3's. Really enjoyed the course but our day was spoiled by some incredibly slow play by a couple of 4 balls who must have been playing for the town clock. On several occasions there were 3 groups waiting on tees and not once was there the offer to play through. Not acceptable! Bitter, sweet experience.
What a fantastic, well maintained course. Only paid £15 for the round, fantastic value.
Escapism
My dad visited from the south and I wanted to find somewhere we could both completely relax and leisurely enjoy our round. It was perfect in this sense, we had no one following us for a couple of holes.
Also a good balance of challenging holes and some easier with wide fairways.
We absolutely loved the course and will return.
Winter work on course paying off.
Played at Little Lakes a few times over the past few months. Greenkeepers did a lot of work in the winter on drainage etc and it has really paid off. Greens and fairways in excellent condition. Greens a little slower than my home course but true. I played on a quiet afternoon and the pace of play was quick enough.
well worth a visit ,i would highly recommend this course every hole is challenging to a 14 handicapper like me greens were in great condition for november
