Condition could be better but it’s not bad value.
Course always seems to play harder than its slope rating. A lot of daunting tee shots and approaches into greens where wayward shots are lost balls...not necessarily that hard, psychological as much as anything. Course was a bit soft despite little rain lately, lot of mud balls as a result. Greens need some repair work and TLC as several appeared to have early repairs ongoing on loads of pitch marks from earlier in the winter. The good greens ran true, those with more damage were a lottery of bobbles. Bunkers were pretty awful, very little sand or signs of care and attention. Oddly you’re currently required to download and print the scorecard for yourself too, not ideal and I’m not sure it’s really a Covid measure as cards are single use. Pace of play always seems to be an issue at Little Lakes too, we were somehow held up by a two ball who over the course of 18 allowed the four ball and three ball in front of our three ball through. Overall it’s an ok course in a nice setting.
Lovely little course - few tweeks needed
Great little course with a challenging layout for a first time attempt at the course.
I felt the greens could of been in better condition but clearly have recently been irrigated due to the amount of sand on them and fairways could of been also cut and finished better.
However that being said, I’d happily return as I believe that these aspects would improve now that the course is open after the easing of the lockdown
Complete disgrace
We arrived at the course ahead of time and entered the clubhouse area . The lady in duty was on the phone ranting at somebody about "all these golfers who want to play in any weather" immediately that created a poor impression of the course.
We booked in and she quickly mumbled that certain holes where only available I think she mentioned about four holes. When I asked her to repeat it so I could mark it on my card she just huffed and said it should tell u outside. Which we later found it didn't.
Once we got to the first hole we immediately saw it was going to be difficult the course should never have been open it was so muddy and uneven that it was very hard to just stay on feet. Every ball hit would bury itself into the fair way and green completely. There was no markers to say a a hole was closed. We played a few holes as best as we could but each hole was taking us far to long and then trying to get to the next was ridiculous so we called it a day.
To make the most of it we popped into the clubhouse to have a quick drink before we left. As we entered my colleague was still adjusting his mask to which the same woman from early shouted as t him to out his mask on. Extremely rudely and very abrupt . Mask fully on he asked if we could have a couple of beers (we hadn't even been offered a seat at this point. To which she again barked at us "what food do you want". She hadn't even seated us or given us a menu to look what they offer.
We decided that we wasn't welcome so told her that we thought she was very rude so are leaving and she just stared at me.
We booked 18 holes expecting to play 18 holes with no information that is only a few would be available and again there is no way the course should be open.
Shame about the rain yesterday
Played there after it had been closed previous day due to heavy rain some fairways very wet greens were very good for December overall course has some interesting holes it is by no means a championship course and should not be compared against them but is priced very fairly it is next to a holiday park take a chance you wouldn't be disappointed if you go with the right mindset
Should have been closed
Upon arrival the course was closed pending an inspection. At this point I could have cancelled...course Pro told me the front 9 was ok so we was waiting to hear about the back 9. Ten minutes after my tee time the pro said the back nine was off limits and hole 9 was also closed. So could only play 8 holes and 1 temporary hole. Course was far to wet and muddy so the course should have been inspected before the very first tee off to give people time to cancel and get a refund. I had rang on the day before to ask if the course was open and was told it was with no indication on some holes being closed. Very frustrating day but I’m sure on a good day this could be a good round of golf. £20 for 8 holes wasn’t!!!
On the plus side the staff were friendly enough.
LITTIE LAKES
PLAYED HERE MANY TIMES, AND USUALLY COURSE IN GOOD CONDITION. COURSE WAS VERY WET AND SOME OF THE GREENS. AND THERE WAS MENTION ONE OF THE BRIDGES WAS UNDER REPAIR
Little lakes
In these strange times myself and Terry attended fir a 9 am T off welcomed by a friendly member of staff covid secure and booked in. The course although being wet under foot and muddy in places played really well pace was great and the winter sun shone. .
If I had one criticism it would be leaves on the course in places. But given the time of year it’s expected.
Deffo be back to play in spring summer when covid has gone !!!
Sticky Autumnal afternoon
Excellent course - very picturesque - with many interesting and challenging holes and great greens.
Difficult to find the balls in amongst the leaves
Good challenging course.
Good challenge, some blind holes so need a course map. A bit wet in places as can be expected for this time of year. Overall good experience.
Not recommended!
I’m not one to do reviews but I felt I must this time. Do not expect anything special on this course. First of the amentiries - couldn’t find a pro-shop to get a scorecard or course advice. Poor green conditions which were like a beach, no tee signs, most holes are blind and have doglegs, no yardage markers anywhere and nearly every hole is built on a hill. Not an enjoyable experience. The course needs a whole makeover to get to a half decent standard.
An interesting course
Some tricky holes that were at times hard to navigate around. We could have played the round much faster if people had allowed faster two balls to play through.
But enjoyed the course with the greens being very good for the time of year.
Little lakes.
Super course, will keep you fit as it's a good walk, sometimes a little walk between green to next tee but otherwise a good test of your golfing skills..
Good course
Good course, few to many blind T shots and you definitely need a buggy
If you want to cry, play this course
Basically the most tortured ive ever been on a course.. layout was great, greens rolled lovely, well looked after. Lets get back to the torturing of me though. Hill’s for days ment my 5’8 an a half poor calfs took a battering. Wind was upto 20 mph so if i had hair it would of been blown to pieces! Some tight fairways meaning i was in 3-4 ok it was maybe 12 trees. Some lovely holes though. 2nd hole par 5 over a brow into a below green (obviously i missed the green with the approach shot) is top notch. Only sour taste was the last hole, I bombed a 265 yard (wind assisted) drive down the middle and lost it! Made me cry.. lovely course!!
Buggy reqd!!!
This course is in great condition but very unforgiving. Driving is difficult with the sloping fairways and balls are lost frequently!! Physically demanding without a buggy
Little gem
Very nice course, fairways and greens were excellent. Beautiful scenery, very hilly though. Some hard holes, beautiful autumn day but quite windy. Had to get scorecard from the bar area, helpful staff. Really enjoyed the day, but tired out after walking up those hills.
