Little Lakes, Little gem.

Played this course earlier today in sweltering heat. Beginning to dry out after many dry days but greens were superb. I have played many courses in the UK and abroad and the greens match the best. A minor criticism would be that the first cuts were too long and I lost a few balls that I would normally have found easily.

Little Lakes is very undulating and I am 66 so my motocaddy was ,for me,essential. A buggy would have been even better.

It is of benefit to have played the course before as there are quite a few dog legs which are not obvious from the trees.

I did not find the course overly long and course management is more important than length - a 3 wood or hybrid is sufficient off most trees.

Facilities are restricted due to COVID but we enjoyed a welcome drink and sandwich after the round.

Good value

played on Sunday morning course in good nick there was some longer grass the staff had already told us a mower had broken a few days before that they had not managed to get fixed the green speed was a little slow there is a premium on hitting tee shots in the right place but miss hits can be recovered take your medicine overall a solid 8 out of ten

Little Lakes

I played Little Lakes yesterday for the first time in several years. The course was in very good condition. Very good tee boxes and greens. It’s a pity that many golfers do not repair their pitch marks on the greens.

My only criticism would be that the buggy that we rented had awful rear suspension. Both of us felt every bump around the course and we both have stuff and sore backs today.

Great little course

It’s a strange entrance to the club and feels a bit municipal to begin with but once out on the course, I think it’s one of the most interesting courses in the area. The hidden greens tucked away and the numerous dog legs with some big undulations and fantastic views make this course a real treat. Not the longest but not the easiest either because of the rises and falls meaning club selection can be tricky.

Just a great course

The course may not be the longest but it plays longer than the scorecard.

Just a well looked after course with lots of different holes to keep you thinking.
