Sad

Used to be a lovely track however its gone downhill massively , heard a story about the shocking management from a member apparently its all on companies house the owners have gone into liquidation owing 100s of thousands , no doubt another company name ready and waiting very poor , green keeper was an angry little man as well

Hidden Gem

Strongly recommend playing this, worth a drive, the value is incredible, some really tricky holes, some really fun par 3s, and an overall blast. My new go to regular.

Okay if you can get it for £10/15.

In comparison to other courses of a similar price (£25 at the weekend) there is a lot of work that needs to be done; fairways are not in good condition, tee boxes are wonky with many chunks missing from them, the rough is just a no go (almost impossible to find your ball in it).

Great layout, slow play.

Nice course which has a good layout, condition was fair. Greens could have done with a cut. No driving range balls available. Members ahead of us in a 4ball all day playing painfully slow, would not let us through as a 2ball. Another member slowed play by failing to play provisional balls from the tee on multiple occasions, so had to walk back to the tee. Frustrating. Overall, a decent course and would play again.

Greens not Great

Played here a few times and enjoyed each one, course is pretty good but the greens were quite poor, very bobbly and scorched. Had some beautiful weather recently, if your going to put the sprinklers on do it after sunset.

Still going again next week, great value for money.

For £15 for 18 holes this place is a bargain. The course itself is in decent condition but the greens need a lot of TLC

Ok course

Fairways are good, just some of the greens are letting it down, they are a little bumpy and patchy and throws your line off

Great Course

Malkins is a really Nice Course. Much improved bunker and fairway wise, but the greens are terrible due to the amount of unrepaired pitchmarks. Many look like a golf ball , due to the damage done.

Thoroughly enjoyed the round though. Would recommend.

Good Practice

The greenskeepers have done a good job cutting back trees and rough so if you happen to miss the fairway you can find your ball. Bunkers now have sand however don’t expect them to be raked when you find one. This course is testing and you need to hit straight drives to score low. The course could be really nice however it’s let down by poor etiquette, SLOW PLAY, no raked bunkers, pitch marks all over the greens and the odd divet too. The greens need a watering. Plus point the 15th hole is better than I have seen it play before. I like this course but let down by a lack of respect from some of the people that play it more than anything else. Best played in the morning

Oh dear

Started off playing this course 10 yes ago. Not played here for 3 yrs have to say probably the worst in the area. All funds have been spent turning the golfers clubhouse in to a restaurant so no golf atmosphere or prices . The course is in poor condition pitch marks everywhere. The tee area grass longer than my lawn . I found a deal to play there for £15 and that was just about worth it any more is too expensive for that course. A real shame as its only 10 mins from my home but would prefer to pay the extra and play else where. In summary a good course yrs ago but now probably worst in the area.

Windy weather

pleasant round on a windy day

Played here a lot. Its generally easy to get a round at a fair price. It can be challenging if your game isn't on song like ours were today and the pace of play tends to be slow every time Ive played. Course is a bit rough in places, the greens need a bit of work but were consistent pace wise. I'd still play here again but wouldn't be my first choice.

Decent course

Thoroughly enjoyed the round at Malkins Bank, considering the terrible weather in the weeks before hand the course was in good condition, all main greens were in play and no fairway mats needed which after a few months of course closures and temporary green let downs at other courses it was music to my ears. The majority of the course was playable with only a small amount of standing water which wasn’t really in the way. The greens were cut very well and for the most part in better condition than expected for the time of year. Staff were friendly and welcoming and the course is not intimidating so suits a range of handicaps. Would recommend and will be returning.

Good Condition for time of year!

For the 16th Dec. 2024 the course was in very good condition. Mild weather and no rain. A lot of work as been done to improve the course, looking forward to next year.
