Marvellous Marple
Me and my playing partner love to do away days and this year we really want to experience what the middle of England has to offer and Marple did not disappoint!!
First became aware from watching Peter Finch play the course in 2025 on YouTube, we got intrigued the trickiness of the green and though lets give it a go! Now we did pick the hottest day of the year so far and therefore the scores suffered (the suffering was worth it though)
From the moment we arrived at the Pro Shop we knew we were in for a great day, the lad on reception (i want to say Andy) was the best welcome we've ever had, super engaging, informative and just made us both feel like we were welcome to the nth degree! If he can't sell the course nobody can!
The course itself was baffling for how insanely green and well kept it was for all the hot weather which has been around! Ground had some softness, gorgeously green fairways and pacey greens! Stunning views of Manchester beautifully laid out course! I have to say if it wasn't so far away, i'd want to be a member!
£45 to play this course is scandalous
I recently played at Marple Golf Club and unfortunately came away very disappointed, particularly given the £45 green fee.
The overall condition of the course is well below what you would expect at this price point. The greens were especially poor, uneven, inconsistent, and clearly not maintained to a standard suitable for a paying visitor. Putting felt more like guesswork than skill, which really detracts from the experience.
Beyond the greens, the general aesthetics of the course also left a lot to be desired. Fairways and surrounding areas looked tired and lacked the care and presentation you’d expect from a course charging premium rates. It simply doesn’t offer value for money in its current condition.
There is potential here, but significant improvements in maintenance and presentation are needed before the pricing can be justified. At present, I wouldn’t recommend it to others looking for a quality round of golf.
Marple Review
A testing course on 3 or 4 holes but gives the average golf a fair chance on their game
Interesting course wuth good views
Excellent interesting course. Lots of hazards and slope to deal with, making you use your brain as well as your skills. Was extremely windy today, nearly got blown off my feet a couple of times! Just made it more fun. Good views as well.
Marple GC
Played my first round here and wasn’t disappointed.Course is nestled away in the countryside and the drive in feels like it 😳
Shortish course but isn’t a course you can overpower by any means a lot of strategic tee shots needed .Greens are very slopey and quick you have been warned .Overall a good day and under £20 you can’t beat it .Only one thing needed found myself trying to figure out where the next tee was.an awful lot .
Go play it I say 👍
Wonderful
Nothing not to like, a nice sunny day. One of the best views overlooking Salford and Manchester from the 1st. A forgiving course. Some testing holes especially the 235 yard per three and the following hole after that. Clubhouse a little dated but very clean and comfortable. Did make me chuckle to see a Poo-Bar aka Moosehead table in the Bar area. Gavel included🤣, well at least I think they call it that?. When up this way again I will be having another round here.👍
NICE COURSE
Have played here before and enjoyed it thoroughly.
However the proshop was closed on arrival 1.30 pm and as we found out later when confronted by another player we should have been given mats off the fairway.
Funnily enough it was the first fairway i had hit that round as well.
Would have been 5 stars across the board if not for the above reason.
Good value at long last
Great course and given the cost of living expenses today only fair to offer more "Golf Now" price busters for those strapped for cash or unemployed.
Ps- a course layout on the scorecard would have proved extremely useful along with directional Arrows for those new to the course.
A day out in Marple
A beautiful course , not very difficult but you need to put the ball in play or not to try over powering it . Lots of great views in the surrounding area , very friendly members and staff, the course was slightly wet in places because unbelievably fast when it drys out. The most impressive things were the greens unreal for this time of year fair play to the green staff 👏🏻👏🏻
Very playable despite the weather
The weather the day before was appaling. Marple had 17 holes open the following day. Obviously wet but very playable on the greens as well.
Very wet but playable
Henry in the Pro Shop gave a warm welcome and was super helpful.
Only 11 holes open due to the weather but the greens are still great. Was offered the choice to play as many times as I liked.
I look forward to playing again when we have dried out a touch and I can play the closed holes.
Members were really friendly too.
Great course in winter
Been playing here for the past few months and despite the erratic weather we've had in winter, thr condition has always been brilliant.
A great course with par 3s and several par 4s , some of which are short and some long. One nice par 5 at the end.
Staff are friendly and its such a great price.
