5 1/2 hour round. Terrible greens
Living locally and having played here many times, this should be one of the best courses in the Midlands ! Unfortunately the condition of the greens is way below what you would expect or accept if you were a member here. And to top it off 5 1/2 hours for a round !!! The starter was very keen to tell us about buggy abuse would be escorted from the course instantly, which was very condescending. Then teeing off 15 minutes later than booked which again is not the best start to a round. But to be held up for every shot due to the slow play was the worst of all. What are the course marshalls for ? Nowhere to be seen ! Greens and bunkers are the worst we’ve played all year ! It was so poor that I’ve cancelled my next booking.
superb course in fab condition but testing sand
we really loved the course
it was in fab conditions
it did tak eus 5 hours and we found the course difficult but superb to play
Great test of golf
The Welcombe always provides a great test of golf with its varied hole layout. Considering the drought period we have had the course was in overall good condition. The greens had too much grass than I'm used to, but expected due to the hot weather. My only gripe was slow play! We had two lady members in a buggy in front . The lady's never once invited us to play through, which was annoying. The round took us 4 1/2 hours which is not acceptable for a two ball. I don't think this can be blamed on the course, more a worrying trend these days where some people do not show the courtesy of letting faster players through.
Downpour
Really good condition even in the rain, greens had not long been prepped for winter but were still a good speed
Quick greens
Tee’d off nice and early, the green keepers were working away which didn’t interfere with the round the course was dry and plenty of run on the fairways, the greens were very fast and in great condition, the pace of play was good even though the course was busy
Same faults every time !!!
Pace of play is horrific ! Almost every tee had 3 groups waiting. Greens were terrible. Not a flat tee on the course. Every frickin time I say never again ! Always hope that things will change as the course design is superb.
Quirky Course
The course was in good condition but very tricky holes.
Too many dog leg holes and blind drives. Bunkers everywhere!
Quite a few domed greens. Would recommend playing due to value for money and experience but do not expect to score well!
Very slow play
Course was in good condition and was very well set out but the pace of play was funerial
Over 2 and a half house to play 9 holes when we walked off
Played here a lot over the years it never disappoints.. brilliant amenities course always in great condition.. probably good idea to book a golf cart as quite hilly or it’s just that I’m getting older..!!
If you’re flexible you can pick up a round for a very reasonable price… but either way it’s well worth a visit..
Lovely little course. Great fun.
Played a twighlight round on a Monday evening. It was slow, but I was a 1 ball, with 4 balls ahead, so to be expected.
The greens looked poor but played really quite well.
It's short by yardage but plays a reasonable length. Long par 3s (in the wind), and position required off the tee on the short par 4s.
Having not played there before, I was caught out by blind tee shots on a couple of holes having hit "perfectly".
Approach to the 16 towards the hotel is lovely. Tee shot on 17 just stunning.
At £20 for 18 starting just after 5pm it is great value for money.
Would happily play again.
Welcombe
Had twilight tee time. Could not fault anything about course. After we finished went to club house and it was shut, was looking forward to a pint.
Will definitely play it again so we can complete all 18 holes.
I am very sorry that we did not look after you well and you raise some very concerning lapses in our service, I would like to look into this issue further so I can find the cause of the issue, I do hope that you will contact me directly at the Welcombe on 01789413800 and ask for Tom Waldron.
