Great course
Really enjoyed the course not sure why there are bad reviews got the round for £16 was worth every penny of that would definitely play again if I was in the area
Another pleasant day at mowsbury
Played a 4 ball at Mowsbury and as always enjoy the course there.
they are doing work in places at the moment and in places does look a bit tatty.
They have problems with rabbit /mole holes on some greens but overall it was ok and the course is a good lay out with interesting holes
Neglected
Have played here a few times over the years due to it being my nearest course but hadn't played the course in a year or 2.
Always really enjoy the layout and the interesting mix of holes. Such a shame it's always in a poor condition, the length of grass on the greens was closer to your average fairway, inconsistent bunker sand on most holes (some were soft white sand, others muddy clumps of builders sand).
Lack of an open bar at 6.30pm also meant our money went to the pub up the road instead.
Mowsbury should be a regular in our groups rotation, but it's just not good enough for the money being asked. Could be great with a bit of investment and TLC but unfortunately it'll never happen being a municipal course.
I'll continue to occasionally use the driving range but the course ? Maybe we'll try again in another year or 2 if it's not sold off for housing by then.
Good Course for price
Not too challenging for a high handicap like myself, course was in good condition, but greens were ok.
A lot of the bunkers have been taken out or are under repair.
In all good value for the price and a good bar with reasonable prices.
Not worth the money
£40 for a round here is exceptionally steep. The greens and tee boxes were very poor. Green grass length different on every hole and multiple greens were bobbly and had genuine lumps out of them. If I was looking to play in Bedford again, I would absolutely be trying another course.
Positives were the pace of play, rarely held up at all.
Bloke behind the desk in the pro shop was friendly.
A Sorry Looking Course
First visit for 20+ years and so sad to see it in such poor condition. The photos tell it all. Thread bare fairways. Multiple bunkers GUR. Greens not too bad but overall condition was very poor. Felt like a course being run down for sale. The final nail in the coffin was at 5.30pm the bar had already been closed so nowhere to have a drink. When I questioned the pro behind the desk he couldn’t have looked less interested.
Save your money and go elsewhere
Not bad
Not a bad course, felt like greens hadn’t been mowed for a day, quite fuzzy and not very true also a number were suffering from a hydraulic leek from the mower. bunkers are shallow but see this a lot on council courses.
With some money behind it, it could be an excellent course
Bad
Although it seems efforts have been made to make this place better, the greens up currently awful and it's not worth the price hike which keeps happening.
All good
Staff were excellent from serving breakfast to pro shop to a drink when finished. Really friendly, Course was ok especially as everywhere was very wet but they do have an issue with the crows and magpies pecking the fairway- never seen so many magpies
3/5
Bad time of year for golf but even so, the greens were rather poor.
Other than that, good course, friendly staff and good facilities.
In sorry condition
Appreciate it's the winter & no course is playing at its best but it's lacking some serious need of tlc, vast majority of the bunkers are GUR with moss means been neglected for 12 months plus, all paths in a sorry state of repair, some greens have previous hole positions that hasn't been filled in correctly one green had a 40/50mm circular hole in the green (that's a first) basic green keeper maintenance you would think. Temporary tee mats in a poor state clearly have been taken from driving range using the worst mats they had, it just feels like a course that is going to be sold for housing development shortly the council are just looking to rinse every last penny before then, in a sorry state of disrepair suggest you play elsewhere.
Great support from club pro’s
The course was understandably wet under foot but this didn’t take away any enjoyment of our round and the course.
A reasonable course with plenty of space and was perfect for me as a new golfer.
Kudos to the gentleman that found my phone on the 1st tee(it had fallen out of the holder) and he handed it in, and a special thanks to the club pro who held onto it and then agreed to place it in an agreed spot.
We enjoyed our round and will definitely be back.
Good all round
Considering the weather conditions we’ve had recently the course was in good condition and drained quite well. Would recommend and go again.
A Hidden Gem for Public Golfers
I had the pleasure of playing Mosebury Golf Club this past Sunday, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations for a public golf course. The layout was really interesting, with enough variety and challenge to keep things engaging throughout the round.
The condition of the course was excellent, especially for a public facility. The fairways were well-maintained, and the greens were in great shape—consistent and smooth, even though not every player takes the time to repair their pitch marks and divots. The fact that I managed to score my best round of the year on my first visit is a real testament to the quality of the course.
Overall, I had a very enjoyable experience and would highly recommend Mosebury Golf Club to golfers of all levels. I’m already looking forward to heading back for another round soon!
Course layout was great
It’s never really a bad day if your on the golf course, but losing balls in the 1st cut is just so annoying, but like all course there’s never enough effort to clear fallen leaf and that’s the biggest disappointment from all courses but was pretty bad, losing 8 balls that are clearly in play gets very tedious and the first cut was more like heavy rough, but I still had a laugh, keep it dead straight and you’ll have a great day, I’ll probably visit in the summer next time……
Slowest round in 15 years
Lovely lay out to the course for a municipal track, lots of leaves but to be expected this time of the year. Greens pretty slow but wasn’t expecting them to be amazing due to it being a municipal. Would have happily played here again but a society of 20 odd older gentleman were playing in 4 balls in front of. No marshalling of the pace of play what so ever and none made the effort to even try and speed up. 5.5 hours for 18 holes, waiting to hit every shot even ending up as a 5 ball due to two solos catching us up and not being able to play through. Even as a five we were waiting on every tee box for at least 5 minutes.
Nice course
Nice course , but way too many leaves around and lost a few ball in them , also greens had a lot of pitch marks on them , but that down to bad golfers , course is in good condition and looking forward to going back there .
Perfect
I learnt to play the great game of golf and Mowsbury has become my favourite course everything about this place is perfect course club house staff
