3/5
Bad time of year for golf but even so, the greens were rather poor.
Other than that, good course, friendly staff and good facilities.
In sorry condition
Appreciate it's the winter & no course is playing at its best but it's lacking some serious need of tlc, vast majority of the bunkers are GUR with moss means been neglected for 12 months plus, all paths in a sorry state of repair, some greens have previous hole positions that hasn't been filled in correctly one green had a 40/50mm circular hole in the green (that's a first) basic green keeper maintenance you would think. Temporary tee mats in a poor state clearly have been taken from driving range using the worst mats they had, it just feels like a course that is going to be sold for housing development shortly the council are just looking to rinse every last penny before then, in a sorry state of disrepair suggest you play elsewhere.
Great support from club pro’s
The course was understandably wet under foot but this didn’t take away any enjoyment of our round and the course.
A reasonable course with plenty of space and was perfect for me as a new golfer.
Kudos to the gentleman that found my phone on the 1st tee(it had fallen out of the holder) and he handed it in, and a special thanks to the club pro who held onto it and then agreed to place it in an agreed spot.
We enjoyed our round and will definitely be back.
Good all round
Considering the weather conditions we’ve had recently the course was in good condition and drained quite well. Would recommend and go again.
A Hidden Gem for Public Golfers
I had the pleasure of playing Mosebury Golf Club this past Sunday, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations for a public golf course. The layout was really interesting, with enough variety and challenge to keep things engaging throughout the round.
The condition of the course was excellent, especially for a public facility. The fairways were well-maintained, and the greens were in great shape—consistent and smooth, even though not every player takes the time to repair their pitch marks and divots. The fact that I managed to score my best round of the year on my first visit is a real testament to the quality of the course.
Overall, I had a very enjoyable experience and would highly recommend Mosebury Golf Club to golfers of all levels. I’m already looking forward to heading back for another round soon!
Course layout was great
It’s never really a bad day if your on the golf course, but losing balls in the 1st cut is just so annoying, but like all course there’s never enough effort to clear fallen leaf and that’s the biggest disappointment from all courses but was pretty bad, losing 8 balls that are clearly in play gets very tedious and the first cut was more like heavy rough, but I still had a laugh, keep it dead straight and you’ll have a great day, I’ll probably visit in the summer next time……
Slowest round in 15 years
Lovely lay out to the course for a municipal track, lots of leaves but to be expected this time of the year. Greens pretty slow but wasn’t expecting them to be amazing due to it being a municipal. Would have happily played here again but a society of 20 odd older gentleman were playing in 4 balls in front of. No marshalling of the pace of play what so ever and none made the effort to even try and speed up. 5.5 hours for 18 holes, waiting to hit every shot even ending up as a 5 ball due to two solos catching us up and not being able to play through. Even as a five we were waiting on every tee box for at least 5 minutes.
Nice course
Nice course , but way too many leaves around and lost a few ball in them , also greens had a lot of pitch marks on them , but that down to bad golfers , course is in good condition and looking forward to going back there .
Perfect
I learnt to play the great game of golf and Mowsbury has become my favourite course everything about this place is perfect course club house staff
Mowsbury Golf Course Bedford
Played the course on a quite Monday afternoon and loved it. The course was in good condition, a few bunkers are GIR, but that didn't stop me have a great experience. The course has a number of holes that I really like, like the 15 and 16. I would recommend this course and look forward to playing it again
Mowsbury
Lovely course in good condition. Greens are well kept. Staff are friendly.
Condition not amazing
Played a round here late August for the first time in a couple of years, condition wasn’t great and looks like they have let it slip, used to be pretty good, a lot of bare areas and damage to the greens, all being said, it was a cheap round and I like the layout of the course, I hope this is due to the hot weather of late but I’m not sure that can be entirely to blame, 90% of bunkers were gur, although they were not under repair, just neglected with compacted sand/mud and weeds
Lovely course, let down in other areas.
Arrived around noon Sunday, went straight for the bar for a refreshing Drink before our round. Checked in at the golf shop which was a little sparse in merchandise and greeted by two gentlemen who looked like they wanted to be anywhere but there. We did manage an earlier tee time though.
Course was lovely, well laid out, challenging and diagrams showing the layout of the hole (very useful for a new player at this club) Lots of broken tees on the boxes and not all holes had a bin, clearly which was a problem for some golfers as they tipped the contents of their drinking sessions under the tree or next to the tee boxes themselves.
After completing the round at 16:45, after a hard walk in I am told 30 degree peak heat we wondered up to the bar yet again but as we park up our clubs we are told the clubhouse closes at 5pm! I refer to my previous comment on when we finished. Unfortunately this left a sour note in our mouths when all we wanted was a pint or indeed anything to clench our thirst!
Overall the course was great and I would recommend it too fellow players, I would tell them to make sure they go with everything they need already and get an early round to avoid a closed bar at the end.
Good course - great value
Enjoyed my first round at Mowsbury, the course has a few hills which make it interesting, and also the view from the 16th green is a great reward towards the end of the round, you can see right across to the Cardington Hangars. Challenging enough for most golfers, and some wide fairways to make you more comfortable.
Mowsbury Golf Club
Fantastic course and really friendly members who took me under their wing and showed me around my first time on the course. Fantastic value for money and the course is in brilliant condition, especially considering it’s a municipal course! I will definitely be coming back here for many years to come.
