Good course - great value
Enjoyed my first round at Mowsbury, the course has a few hills which make it interesting, and also the view from the 16th green is a great reward towards the end of the round, you can see right across to the Cardington Hangars. Challenging enough for most golfers, and some wide fairways to make you more comfortable.
Mowsbury Golf Club
Fantastic course and really friendly members who took me under their wing and showed me around my first time on the course. Fantastic value for money and the course is in brilliant condition, especially considering it’s a municipal course! I will definitely be coming back here for many years to come.
Good value for money
I have played here a few times now and always believe it offers really good value for money. The fairways are in good nick and although slow, the greens are good too. The undergrowth under the trees had recently been cut too which was a welcome bonus. They do seem to have some budget challenges as quite a few bunkers are left to grass over or have a long term 'GUR' flag in them but overall - really enjoyable.
A poorly mowed field
If playing a course with no fairways, thick uncut rough, slow , bobbly weed infested greens, and poor beaten up tee boxes with golfers playing in groups of 5's and 6's in jeans and doc Martins is your vibe then get in there and book a tee time.
If not avoid like the plague
Enjoyable Round
A nice mix of holes, in very good condition. Staff and facilities first class too. We will be back
Great value
We played using a great discount from Golf Now which gave the two of us a round for less than half the price of other nearby courses.
The course is not long but in good condition, the greens were a little slow but in great condition and consistent.
We will happily play there again, especially at such a good price.
Excellent as ever
Mowsbury staff and always welcoming and cheery. The course was in great condition given all the adverse weather and we had a brilliant time. The golf was not so great but a lot of fun was had and we all shot sub 100. We will be back and thank you Mowsbury for another great round of golf.
Some horrific slow play
Some horrific slow play meant our round after 2 hours and 20 mins and only 9 holes played. Awful!
Poor management
Greens are very uneven, rough is long and covered in grass from long ago mowing, slow play in front by young players, bar not open after 4:30, so toilets unavailable and no drinks, evidence of rabbit scrapes on some fairways.
Hot day good golf
We tee'd off at 11 and didn't finish until 15:45, this was due to a club competition. Other than that the golf course was in very good condition and had a great time playing the course.
Would definitely be back.
Avoid at all costs
Booked it online with GolfNow for £17.99 per person for two players. Then another friend wanted to play but had to pay £30 direct to the golf club. I had a brainwave and saw another online slot for my friend to get £30 refunded and pay £17.99 instead online. Upon arriving the course with 1st tee box and 18th hole green, it looks quite decent, making us feel it would be a nice day for golfing. Alas it went downhill immediately after teeing off from the 1st hole, looking against the fairway’s sides, there’s no semi-rough but tall grass fit for cows to mulch on. Whenever our balls rolled off the fairway slope, we’ve lost numerous balls, thinking we’d find it while walking up to it. Around each greens, the fringe are either mangled, churned up or patches of lawn laid poorly.
On the way back to the clubhouse, it says it’s under new management, no wonder. A real shame.
Potential
Good layout, some great holes. Was very wet, but to be expected. Will definitely return in a couple of months.
Great course
Lots of parking. No “this is our club” friendly staff and members. Pace of play was good, signage and layout was good.
